South Carolina Governor Admits to Extramarital Affair (title updated)

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

For instance they are the party that preaches the sanctity of marriage expecially one's that involve a man and a woman and then go out and preach about fidelity as this governor did.

The Republican party tries to sell itself as the party of family values.

They have set themselves up for this..and they should be held to a higher standard for that.

Well, not ALL of them. I'm not sure if Sanford was one the family values crowd. And to be fair, Edwards also preached about his commitment to his wife before he was found out.

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

Me too. The only time I get a laugh out of it is when they put themselves on that platform with their "family values" drivel. As Glinda pointed out, the hypocrisy screams out. If you are going to claim the moral highground you better be prepared for the backlash when you fail. But it's quite true their sex life is none of my business. However, I'll still laugh at people like Larry Craig.
so if they cheat or are tempted to cheat you think they should campaign on not having "family values" or just avoid the topic hoping that an opponant won't bring it up?

:2rofll:

Playing the political game sometimes requires being a hypocrite, contradicting yourself, rabble rousing :)lol:) and all other manner of political tactics. I don't see this changing anytime soon. It hasn't EVER changed since the beginning of this country.

I'm kinda sad.
Ensign and now Sanford were caught porking adult women.

The last three Republicans caught with their pants down were either blowing men in airport stalls, chasing young boys, or wearing diapers with hookers.

So this latest stuff is kinda boring unless it turns out Sanford was actually noodling underage midget trannies.

...fingers crossed. ;)

Best to avoid the topic and focus on what you are going to do for the voter. Obama got elected without jumping aboard the family values train. Lots of people do the same. I don't care if they cheat or not, but there is no question you harm yourself and your party FAR more when you preach about your lofty moral standing and then get caught with your dick in the mouth of someone who is not your spouse. The reason most people cared so little about Clinton was because we all knew he'd cheat on Hilliary. Who wouldn't? People just have a worse reaction when you preach A and then do the opposite. Which seems to be the GOP soup du jour lately.

Or should we just ignore all of the "high morals" preaching that repulicans like this have been doing?

You are criticizing someone for reaching for the high ground and falling back into the muck.

You would rather we all remain in the muck with you and not try to better ourselves at all?

I called it this morning before the story even broke. No public position like that can keep secrets for long. His brain was obviously on the south end....
Resignation accepted.

I am glad he was able to even see his wrongdoing and resign (eventually he would have been caught) unlike the lengthy rollcall of jackasses that wear their debauchery like a badge of honor and remain in the senate. ie Franks, Daniel Inouye,Brock Adams,Fred Richmond,John Young,Wayne Hays, and so on and so on.

I heard on the grapevine that according to Fox News, now Stanford is a Democrat..

....

yes they corrected it...

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

All I have to say is I'm very disappointed in Mark Sanford. I thought better of him, nevermind his party, I thought better of him as a person, than this.

LtG Andre Bauer, I would have shrugged and said "Who is surprised?"

Sanford I expected better of. If he's stupid enough to run for any public office again he won't get my vote; a politician that will **** over his vows to his wife and his responsibility to his family like that can't be allowed to hold the public trust, imo.

I am disgusted beyond my ability to express.

You must want America to fail.

You must want America to fail.

It's definitely partisan, but how exactly is that equatable to wanting America to fail? Hyperbole much?

The dude has his fingers crossed that more Republican politicos get caught poking little boys in the ass and getting head in public bathrooms. Not exactly the harbinger of success. In denial much?

Like I said, it's definitely partisan. I'm still not seeing how that is the same as wanting America to fail. Care to try again? :2wave:

Maybe he wants the republican party to fail, no America. As a liberal, I hear far too often how I am a America hating, troop hating communist. We don't need any more people making those wild accusations.

Re: South Carolina Governor Admits to Extramarital Affair

Horrible, especially considering the Edwards affair barely piqued the right.

And the Libbos still deny it happened, but anyway...

It IS rather unfortunate that the only thing wrong with him having an affair is that Liberals now have something to talk about. Wait...

he was going to have an affair, governer, or not. He didn't do it because he's a politician, a Republican, a Southerner, or anything else. He did it because he's an asshole. The difference being, now the rest of us Republicans are going to have to eat **** over it and suffer from the Libbos gaining even more political power. If Sanford were a truck driver, he would have hurt his wife and his kids. Since he a governer he not only hurt his wife and his kids, but millions of others, too.

It was ultimately a turn around of the, "If you disagree with Obama, you want America to fail", routine we got from the Libbos.

Did you ever buy into that, Redress?

I have never heard that actually. I have heard "wanting Obama to fail is wanting America to fail", which has a significantly different meaning that your quote. It is also probably not a fair comment to make.

It is also not what you said. Don't blame others for your wild rhetoric, take responsibility for it.

I know some Liberals got pissed off when Rush said that he hopes Obama's policies fail, but I don't remember them saying that. Then again, I could be wrong. Do you have an example?

Re: South Carolina Governor Admits to Extramarital Affair

A hint for you, that will make your time on this board much more successful. You will not get far making broad generalizations about either party, or either end of the political spectrum. Most of us here don't fall exactly in line with the democratic party, the republican party, liberalism, or conservatism.

So, wanting politicians to revert into baby rapers and committing un-natural sex acts in public places isn't the same thing? I'll remember that.

Well, if you missed it, then there's no evidence that I can show that is going to change your mind.

Re: South Carolina Governor Admits to Extramarital Affair

Are you talking about comments such as this one, Redress?

Horrible, especially considering the Edwards affair barely piqued the right.

Only interested in clarity.

So in other words you have nothing other than your opinion. For future reference, please be prepared to back up your claims with proof. It will help your credibility.

Somethings are just common knowledge. Kinda like me saying that the sun sets in the west. Don't really need to provide evidence of that to most folks. Anyone who does require proof...well...

BS. You stated it as if it were fact. When asked for proof you couldn't provide it which means that it is your opinion. Try again. :2wave:
