DUBAI (Reuters) - If it were in a position to do so, Al Qaeda would use Pakistan's nuclear weapons in its fight against the United States, a top leader of the group said in remarks aired on Sunday.
Pakistan has been battling al Qaeda's Taliban allies in the Swat Valley since April after their thrust into a district 100 km (60 miles) northwest of the capital raised fears the nuclear-armed country could slowly slip into militant hands.
"God willing, the nuclear weapons will not fall into the hands of the Americans and the mujahideen would take them and use them against the Americans," Mustafa Abu al-Yazid, the leader of al Qaeda's in Afghanistan, said in an interview with Al Jazeera television.
Assumptions confirmed!

It is time that the U.S. step-up the game and take it to Al Qaeda in Pakistan. I realize we are on somewhat friendly terms with Pakistan, but this is a whole new ballgame. If they do not care to kill themselves, they will not care to wipe-out an entire city.

Hey, it none of our business.

Hey, it none of our business.

That may be true for the moment in Iran, but Obama stated that if he had the opportunity and Pakistan could not act or win, the U.S. would step in. It is now time for him to act on these words. The Pakistani governmnet has been fighting the Taliban and Al Qaeda there for months, it is time for us to help if they cannot finish the job.

I am sure Obama will make a strong statment about his concern over this or something.

I think he should stay out of that immoral war. We need a Declaration of War from Congress first, and then a resolution from the UN.

You guys may be right. He may not act on this, but I hope he has it in him to act. I was proud that he actually retained some of Bush's policies on terrorism, it has cost him alot of points with the far left.

He could sit down with al Qaeda without preconditions and talk this all out.

Can we discuss this Al Qaeda thing seriously, or are you just looking to Obama bash?
I thought this is what he said he was going to do as President.

Pakistan has already stepped up on this.
The West should give weapons and aid to Pakistan to help them root out the extremists.

I agree, but if they are running into a stalemate, then the U.S. needs to act to kill as many Al Qaeda as possible.

Helping another country with Aid is something we can do.

I said aid, not soldiers. We should stay out of sending our troops there but helping Pakistan with the civilians who have been displaced in the fighting between Taliban and Pakistan is something we can do as countries who help with humanitarian causes around the world.

Guns and ammo are provocative.

What we need to do is help them negotiate with India over that whole Kashmir thing... if they can get a good deal out of it, they'd be willing to do whatever we told them in regards to terrorism. Alienating yet another country is the last thing we want to do right now.

American, quit with the troll bait.

Negotiations are what I've been talking about. Someone got elected because he said we were interfering everywhere. So now what's changed?

So you don't think it would work?

Come now with your baiting sir. I am not a blind follower of Obama. He knows as well that open diplomacy will not work, but as the front for covert actions to proceed. The U.S. looks fair, while undermining those we no longer wish to see in power or view as a threat.

Are they short on either?

I doubt it, UK has pledged millions to them already

But in Swat valley where alot of the fighting occured, those fleeing now seem to be suffering from shortages of basics like water and food.
