Assume for a moment that non-Republicans are not idiots. Now tell me when anyone in the administration suggested that terrorists could be helped with therapy? This was invented by the right, repeated ad nauseum by the right, now being used by a failed president in his advice to his successor. How can we not believe that Republicans are on another planet and totally out of touch?

It was a figure of speech to express the opinion that anything less than tough measures are useless. What's so hard to understand?

Do you really not understand this? Really? He's simply making the point that soft measures will not rehabilitate terrorists or get them to talk. You know, like taking them to the beach in the Bahamas.
