A 26-year-old convenience store clerk was shot and killed in broad daylight in Gary, Ind., and police say witnesses stood by and did nothing. CBS 2's Pamela Jones reports there are critical clues that may help crack the case.

I have only one thing to say - What in the hell is wrong with these people?

Article is here.

Fear of being next?

This is nothing new. Remember the women who was stabbed like 40 some times in New York with dozens of people hearing her scream back in the 70's?

Gary, Indiana. Says it all there. The fact that the community leaders demanded a reward for these people to come forward is ridiculous. After the murderers left, apparently no one really did anything. Didn't check on the clerk or call 911 or anything. That goes beyond fearing being next, IMO.

Just sick. But then again what can you possibly expect from Gary Indiana? When I read that the victims family basically told the police that they wouldn't get info without a reward that told me all I needed to know about the people who lived in that neighborhood. This case will not be solved. Hell, we couldn't even catch a man who shot up a department store in a mall and killed like 5 middle class middle aged mothers with video footage of the man with his car caught on camera and we STILL didn't catch him. With the amount of murders that happen in Gary, this man's family doesn't stand a chance.

That is what happens when I don't read the article. Yeah, that goes beyond being afraid.

Even if the witnesses were talking, it wouldn't mean anything.

The owner of the mini-market next door was shot in the face, and the bullet went down past his jaw to stop near his heart. He was sixty two years old and died from pneumonia two weeks later, after suffering strokes and a heart attack due to the attack.

Eye witnesses to the event claimed that it was three men, two blacks and a hispanic or two hispanics and black driving a purple no dark blue Honda no Toyota coupe er sedan.

Even though there were four or five witnesses, the cops couldn't get a description.

Even with video tape it's hard to get a conviction, so no, they probably won't be caught.

Starts with fluoride. Ends with the pacifying gas in the movie Serenity.

What the **** is wrong with these people!?!?!?!?!?

One thing I didn't see mentioned but may be the primary thing that could* explain inaction on it is.
Gangs.

Was the 26 year old convenience store clerk in a gang..was he a known drug dealer/user?
The guy who killed him..whose he?..is he in a gang?

Yeah its all brave to say you;d do x..I say it too..but the guy who shot the clerk may be working for the guy who runs the street and if you speak you die too.

My bet they all or at the very least the shooters are linked to some organized form of crime...iow a Gang.

I'm not up on my trash in the USA and that area but the Latin Kings or their enemies likely run the area this occured.

This is why known gang members should be rounded up and sent to GITMO.

They are nothing more than terrorists.

It's the welfare state.

Someone else will take care of it.

Reminds me of the time I drove by (on the other side of the highway) a large box truck with it's cab afire. The cab door was open, and a car transport was stopped ahead of it, but no emergency vehicles nearby, and everyone else was driving past (albeit slowly).

Of course, I didn't stop either...but then I wasn't driving.

And it looked like at least someone had already stopped...

They will take care of it.

Hmmmm...
