Way to go, GOP. That's a real affective way to reach out to non-white folks. And you wonder why 95% of blacks vote for Democrats.

The chairman of Tennessee's Democratic Party wants a Republican legislative aide fired for sending out a "reprehensible" e-mail depicting President Obama as two cartoonish white eyes peering from a black background.

Obama's image is in the last square of a collage containing portraits of the previous 43 U.S. presidents. Copies of the e-mail were posted on the Internet on Monday.

Sherri Goforth, an administrative assistant to state Sen. Diane Black, R-Gallatin, has admitted she sent the e-mail May 28 with the title "Historical Keepsake Photo." She said, without elaborating, that she mistakenly sent it "to the wrong list of people."

CNN

Oh, that's the problem. It's not that she sent out the ignorant piece of trash; it's that it went to the wrong people. Here is the picture, by the way:

I am not an Obama supporter. In fact, I disagree with almost everything he has done, but this is unconscienable. This woman should be fired immediately. This is not free speach, it is hate speach, and that has no place in our government. It would be different if she came out and said she didn't mean it to be racial or something of that kind. That would warrant an investigation. There is no place in the government of the United States for racist bigots like this woman.

Yeah, because the Republican party officially asked her to send this out.

I agree it's in bad taste but using this as a slam against the GOP isn't noteworthy.

This is "hate speech"? It kind of points out something obvious...first black president, y'all. Fly in the buttermilk and all.

God, we've lowered our threshold for hate speech if this qualifies. Stupid, yes. Hate? Please.

Condi Rice the House Nigger was fine. Obama the eyes is hate speech. Remember folks, only the Right can be racist.

No the comment about Rice was despicable, too. There are bigots on both sides.

I know lets play spot the Mason:)

Condi Rice was one of the people I most admired in the Bush white house. Trust me when I say I found any racist comments about her unacceptable.

Not to defend this picture, but I am betting it was meant as a joke among friends that got sent to the public. Still makes her a terrible person, but not the fault of "republicans".

Of course they didn't, but when a GOP staffer sends something out like that using their email what do you think people are going to think? This is the second incident in a week, by the way, from a staffer or prominent member of the Republican Party engaging in some type of racial slight towards the Obamas. The first incident was right here in South Carolina over the weekend.

The point here is that this is why so many minorities get a bad impression of the Republican Party and Michael Steele has his hands full if he has a goal of trying to bring more non-whites to the show. For the record, I think the Democrats are just as bigoted; they've just done a much better job of pandering to minorities and hiding their prejudice.

You agree that if she's fired, Senator Byrd should be forced to resign, too?

Looking at that photo, I have to ask the important question: Why is GHW Bush's photo so prominent?

Are we really going to get our panties in a wad over this stupidity?

Please how does this represent the GOP anymore than Letterman represents the DNC?

I don't remember that, but my hunch is that it's true. Calling Rice a "House Nigger" is despicable.

And hateful bigotry is seen on both sides of the political aisle.

I'd at least like to see the woman who sent this email offer a very public and very genuine apology - i.e., admit she was wrong to send it in the first place, not just to the "wrong" people.

So a private citizen makes a comment about the First Mammy and the left is all up in arms?

Something happen to nullify the First Amendment in January that we weren't told about?

What's that? Did I say something you objected to?

Welcome to the First Amendment.

Now you get to decide if I was

a) using the english language to demontrate the follies of your double standards, or

b) serious.

Both is not an option, and since you just picked (b), you're wrong.

If a janitor in the bottom floor of the office building where the GOP rents penthouse space makes a racist comment, it's the GOP's fault.

If the most prominent Democrat Senator discusses "white niggers" on a major Sunday news program, that's just fine.

We are making the problem of assuming that the radical few are representing the majority position. I think you would find most of us lefties disagree with both your statements.

I think the racist element is being a bit overplayed here.

Want to know what one of the funniest movie scenes I have ever seen is? It is in the movie 1941. An explosion results in a black man getting flour all over his face and a white man getting oil all over his. The black guy looks in a mirror and begins bawling, while the white guy laughs at him. Then the white guy looks in the mirror, and begins bawling himself, while the black guy is laughing.

You know, come to think of it, that movie scene is racist. It depicts some funny stuff, and you know, funny stuff is sometimes not acceptable in a politically correct environment.

Seriously, though - Was the depiction of Obama dumb? Yup. Was it racist? Not intentionally, I believe, but I would peg whoever did that portrait as clueless, and a complete idiot.

Some on the left will do this. The GOP could beat them to the punch by slamming this racist woman and firing her.

That is the point with all these stories.

Instead of spending 15 minutes a show defending the GOP against leftist attacks, why doesn't Hannity at least devote a little time to talking about the guard who was shot at the museum, and reaching out to his family.

Some on the right seem to condemn an act with one sentence then go on for paragraphs of defensive posturing--Rush is even trying to revise commonly accepted Political Science terms, desperately trying to defend the right.

The both sides have fringe elements. Denying is stupid.

So some administrative assistant sent out and unauthorized and unofficial email and you want to blame the whole GOP for it?

Got hysteria?

Uh, that first amendment gives others the right to say what they think of this woman's actions, and what ought to be done about it.

Like you said, welcome to the first amendment.
