Kansas Teacher Claims Conservative Views Led to Loss of Job

The topic seems to be heavily one-sided and lacking a lot of facts. Hard to truly comment on something when you only have a biased account of the events that unfolded.

So then, just a drive by troll-job. That's what I thought.

I didn't watch the inauguration, I don't even know what I was doing at the time either, probably sleeping.

Forced to watch it at work.
I had not seen one since Carter.

This all makes the assumption that the teacher is being honest and correct. If he is, then the firing was wrong, but I am going to bet there is more to the story that what this article mentions.
You mean a story like about the raving leftwing lunatics that infest our public school system indoctrinating our children with stalinistic propaganda, and never get fired? You mean like them? He should get fired, only after they get fired.

I've got to hear the other side. We will not because of privacy laws, which prohibit employers from releasing this information.

Some employers don't let you promote your political views during work. In our county, we cannot wear political stuff during work, and if we use our cars for work, and we are reimbused, we can't display political stuff.

Generally, school teachers are not free agents and must teach what they are told. Your freedom of expression doesn't extend to comments you make during your employment as a representative of your employer. If you don't talk the talk or walk the walk they can fire you.

Well I'm sorry that you think it's a good idea to take some guy's word about a situation where he would be heavily biased and where there is a severe lack of evidence. I'll wait for more information.

Have you met Joe Steel?

You wanna show me where I said that we should take his word? Cuz, I can show you where I stated the exact opposite...

So still nothing about the topic and just directing your angst at the posters?

Then why are you jumping on me for saying that I feel it's a poor decision to make assumptions when there is a lack of evidence?

I didn't jump on you for saying that. Show me where I jumped on you for saying that.

Then elaborate on how I was trolling. All I did was ask a poster to reword his sentence that was a response to my post. That way, I could actually understand it and formulate a response.

Try placing an "n" between the "I" and "d" in the word "mid". And let's not be a grammar nazi out of obtuseness.

He didn't want to interrupt the class?? Because his lecture on how Bush was right on Iraq so much more relevant. What an ass! When history happens, it's a good idea to stop and watch. And a transcript of a speech is the best way to understand and evaluate a speech. How the heck did this guy get a teaching credential for History?
Really so you where in the class room on Jan 20 2009 listing to what the teacher was actually discussing then right because nowhere have I been able to find what they discussed that day.

As for taking the transcript and breaking it down well we who do some sort of teaching do this all the time. When I was at the War College we would take military plan of famous Generals and battles and break them down and discuss the pro]s and con's

The same thing that this Teacher did oh and for the record since this is a History Class breaking down Transcripts is part of teaching History or do you have a time machine for all of us to go back and hear some of Histories famous Speech's like the Gettysburg Address/Prevents the Revolt of his Office/Justice for Ireland ect. ect.

Were you in the room where they decided to let the teacher go and you heard all the reasons? If not, why do you ASSUME he was let go because of his conservative beliefs when you have nothing else to go on?

The same can be said for assumptions that he wasn't...

True I wasn't but I have read the article and it's very clear to me that he was fired for his political views.

I never said they couldn't, but looking at Page 1 Scorpion is the one that accused the school for letting him go because of a conservative view without knowing the view point of the school.

Now where is YOUR scorn for Scorpion's view?

It was NOT CLEAR as it was ONE SIDED. That is ANYTHING but clear.

really so the comments about his bumper Sticker and the fact that the School Distict refuse to make a comment shows me that he was fired for his politcal views plan and simple. Oh and this isn't the first time that a teacher has been fired for his or her politic's now is it.

The article is actually pretty clear.

Kansas Teacher Claims

Latham claims

Latham says

He argues

"It's gross misconduct," he said.

Latham claims

he claims

That is all from the first half of the article. Note the vast number of unsupported claims.

We covered this already. Not commenting is not a sign of guilt. In this case, it is probably required of the administration to not comment, both contractually, and due to a possible upcoming lawsuit. Even if the administration is entirely in the right, they are better off not commenting.

Circumstantial evidence and you know it. You haven't proved a thing. It is a one sidesd argument with NO true evidence.

It is all on the TEACHERS WORD. How has it been PROVEN RIGHT?
