No it was a wormhole. A tunnel that punches through the fabric of space time similar to what is theorized about the singularity of a black hole. Although the singularity is exactly that. An infinitely small point that is infinitely dense, so no matter would be able to eject out from it.

We should send teams of politicians to investigate these black holes, and continue doing so until they find out what is going on out there...
 
Interesting article, except it's wrong. The biggest black hole in existence is right here on planet Earth. It's the one my tax money keeps disappearing into each year.

You have it wrong. The hole is so dense even light cannot escape (if there were any). And they are remnants of stars.

And no , being strung out like spaghetti is not similiar to the string theory, which is a whole other mind blowing theory in itself. It was just a metaphor of the horrors your body would be subjected to.

yup, that why I put the LOL after that comment! For those who want to get a background on som eof this stuff there is a book titled Essential Einstein by Sana Priwer and Cynthia Phlips PHD and it contains Einsteins theories, some Plnck, MaxwellHeisenberg, Schdinger, Schwarzschild who first studies black holesback in 1916 etc It's like physics for dummies without using the D word !!!!

Some are. If the remaining corpse of a non-rotating star has a mass of 1.4 times that of the sun, the pressure is so great that it collapses into a black hole. This is the Chandrasakhar Limit.

There's also the theory of primordial mini black holes, remnants of the Big Bang. Never been observed.

And there's the primordial black holes at the hearts of the galaxies. Those babies are big.

No. It's science exploring a thoroughly substantiated theory. You can't throw a rock fast enough that it never falls back to earth, and some stars are so massive light doesn't go fast enough to avoid falling back to the star.

Light doesn't escape but x-rays (or was it gamma rays?) do. Based on the intensity of the rays, they can somewhat accurately measure how dense the black hole is. That's about the extent of what I know. I don't even understand why those rays can escape but photons (light), which have no mass either, can't.
