US 'shocked' by high level Cuban spy scandal

It's not the first time. I wonder how funny it will be if it turns out that the information they passed to the Cubans led to the deaths of any Americans or Cubans. Will you still be laughing then?

I'm sure it will be just as funny as how many U.S. spies have caused deaths in other countries right?

Funny and Humor are all Subjective and depends on who the joke is on.

What? There's exactly one person in this thread that considers this situation amusing, and it's not me.

...but thats not the part i find funny?

In other words it works both ways, you dont seem to care when american agents cause the deaths of others abroad.

So the espionage is funny, but the possible consequences aren't?

No the irony of the situation, that the cubans are in the top levels of American security for reasons already stated, not the cost of lives or the whole espionage part.

What an odd statement. Can you show me how you came to that conclusion?

Frankly, as an American, I'm completely disgusted by any American that commits espionage against this country. Other Americans have died because of scumbags like these, and frankly, I don't find it amusing in the least. Just my 2 cents.
I'd be disgusted as well but I'd remember that there are probably Cubans doing this for the US.

Irony? I thought it was amusing.

Traitors have done that to us before, and will likely do it again.

Okay. And? I'm sure there a re Cubans aplenty to be disgusted about what happens to their country.

Or maybe not, since it seems like a whole lot of them risk their lives to get here.

well its happening isnt it ;)

The irony is amusing, yes.

Lol well that just sums it up then.

Good thing you're not an "anti", then.

You have just missed my point entirely. As i said, the commies got you good, thats all im saying. Your not gonna deny that, right? I mean how long have these bastards been handing over top secret documents in which they have high level clearance for, under your noses? I dont see why your denying that. I sense the US government needs to strip its Intel services to the bare bone, cause theres more worms right now then we know about.

I haven't denied any of it. The only part of this whole discussion I take exception to is your contention that it's amusing. It is anything but.

For some reason I'm reminded of that scene in Blackadder Goes Forth about the spies:

"Blackadder Goes Forth" General Hospital (1989) - Memorable quotes

Captain Darling: So you see, Blackadder, Field Marshall Haig is most anxious to eliminate all these German spies.

General Melchett: Filthy hun weasels, fighting their dirty underhand war!

Captain Darling: And fortunately, one of our spies...

General Melchett: Splendid fellows, brave heroes risking life and limb for Blighty!

My dad (who, ironically, is Cuban himself) knew the guy in the early 90's. Said he rambled on about how it was a bad thing that the Soviet Union was falling appart. You'd think that would warrant attention but from what I hear such oddities are common in U.S. government employees.

It was a pretty big disaster for a huge amount of people around the world.

What information could they possibly have passed on that would do this? Last I was aware, Cuba and the US weren't at war.

Was anyone really "shocked"?

Okay, thats you. ;)

From what I hear though he was speaking admiringly of the Soviet Union, and that's a bit odd when you work for a government whose enemy is the Soviet Union.

Well good to know you approve of and encourage this treatment of our guys that get caught.

Yeah, let's cheer on the torture of Americans, after all that's how you cheer on the treatment of other guys, so what's the difference right?.
have you officially gone off the reservation???
