Actually Yes it was used any time the President of the United States is in a Fixed Wing Aircraft it's callsign is Air Force 1

And for the record the planed used was a Boeing 737-750 to be even more to the point this was the plane used,

No what a bunch of BS all the president wants is to invite any singer actor, act or anyone to D.C. and they flock there and they can also detour from official trips to do other things. Point now is we have to cut back because of inflation and the recession and he is wasting money needlessly while many Americans who supported him are hurting big time.

The White House refused to say how much the trip was costing taxpayers.

Even before the Obamas left Washington, the there-and-back trip drew criticism from Republicans. They questioned the president's decision to travel to New York for a night of entertainment during a recession and while automakers struggle to survive.

Was what Obama doing any different that what other presidents were doing? If not this is nothing more than the same old petty bull **** that that liberal did when Bush was in office. We should be above this kind of petty nonsense. There are plenty of legitimate **** to do that the democrats did when Bush was in office like try to block judicial nominations or try to block certian bills or laws.

During the time it takes Obama to pinch a deuce, the salaries of the people guarding/attending on him probably cost more than the average person makes in a year. Who the **** cares.

I think "lose by example" would be more appropriate for those who whine about a presidential trip to Broadway, and those ditto-heads who persist should have EPIC LOSER tatooed on their foreheads.

I have no doubt the Obamas at least asked about paying their own way, but the demands of Secret Service probably make that impossible. I don't remember seeing any complaint about taxpayer money paying for the hunting trip Cheney made where he shot the guy in the face, or any of the dozens of dumbass trips taken by Bush. What did it cost the taxpayer to send Bush to Kennebunkport so he could fish?

What would you have been happy with? Should he have taken a bus? a train? driven? What are the costs of securing the roads from DC to NYC vs Obama flying a small version of Air Force One? OR is it your opinion that Obama shouldn't be able to leave DC due to budget cuts?

I think it would be difficult to figure out what something like this cost.

The drivers and the pilots and everybody has to get a check every week whether they a working or not.

We own the planes and helicopters they took. I guess we gotta pay for the fuel.

It's the same thing with the wars. "Well how much would we be paying anyway whether or not we were at war?" You still gotta pay the soldiers regardless of if we are at war or not. You still gotta feed them and shelter them.

Anyway, I would hope I live in a country where our president can take his wife on an outing to NYC once in a while.

I can break down how much it cost if you like starting with the Secret Service all the way to the Turn around time on the 737 and VH-3.

And additional maintenance, but that seems immaterial over the course of the equipment's useful life.

Not quite. War you often get hazard pay and we need lots more stuff to wage the war. Peace time is pretty cheap. But you are right that we still have to pay personnel their salaries whether or not there is a war on or not.

So the president isn't allowed to go on dates? Experience cultural institutions of the land he governs? Spend free time with his wife? We're not going to have many more little children running around in the White House if that's the way it's going to be.

I didn't give a crap whenever Bush went on vacation unless it was for excessive periods during turbulent times when he should have been working (his month long ranch vacation during the recession for one).

How about instead of pandering to the lower, less evolved parts of your brain, you try for once to be consistent in your beliefs and not work towards further screwing up the country?

Just because one alleged part of the country has double standards doesn't mean that it's okay for you to have them as well.

Do you know the chances of having a child with Down's Syndrome is SIGNIFICANTLY higher in women who get pregnant in their 40s and above?

What message do you think it sends to other ass backward countries for our President to father a child with Down's Syndrome?

Hmmm I guess you might have missed the complaints being from Maine we heard all about it. As for the cost well lets see the boat is Mr. Bush Sr. and he used The Bunk (as we in Maine call it) as his summer White house if you recall.

I actually know the one Secret Service Guy stabding behind Mr. Bush Sr. and some of the talks I had with him he told me the Secret Service guys love come to Maine it was sweet gig from them.

As for Mr. Obama like I said already in this thread I have no problem with him taking the Mrs. out for a night on the town he needs it just like the rest of us do and most likely more then we do. My problem with the whole thing was first he bad mouth Car Exs on the use of Corp Jets and bad Mouth Company for holding Conventions in Las Vegas (costing Vegas Millions of Dollars) while all along ask his fellow Americans to tighten our Belts. He could have had a night out on the Town in DC and still caught a real good show, if you read the article you will note they named some show that where playing in DC.
