EXCLUSIVE: Career lawyers overruled on voting case; Black Panthers had wielded weapon

Re: EXCLUSIVE: Career lawyers overruled on voting case; Black Panthers had wielded we

I think the idea was for them to prevent the usual suspects from intimidating black voters.

Who are these "usual" suspects?

Any evidence of this?

Don't hold your breath.

Back it up with what, news stories of repubs going to jail for voter fraud/intimidation tactics? So you've lived under a rock for the past 40 years...

I think the idea was for them to prevent the usual suspects from intimidating black voters. Their presence ensures that black folks don't have to fear going to the polls and being arrested or harassed.

No.

The idea was to intimidate whitey.

No one goes to polls to intimidate black voters, hasn't happened in decades anywhere.

These guys went too far and should be prosecuted. However, the justice department has a lot of important cases to deal with and apparently this was a civil suit. If they actually broke the law, not just as a perceived threat by some, then they should absolutely be prosecuted by the local court system. Why was this being pushed to the US justice department?

They violated federal law, that means it's in federal court and that means the DOJ and that means bigotted tax cheat holden can drop the case against the brudda's and that's that.

Guaranteed if it was white boys doing exactly the same thing, it wouldn't have been dropped AND it would be a major media circus.

Yeah, you made the claim, you could try backing it up with evidence, since none comes immediately to mind.

He is probably talking about the unfounded reports from Bushes victory's.

Just more partisan silliness.

Sadly enough, that seems to be the #1 debate tactic these days.

Someone brings up a point you don't like, try to point the finger elsewhere and say, "Oh yeah? Bush did (blah blah blah blah blah)." "Oh yeah? Clinton did (blah blah blah blah blah)" and we can go all the way back to Abraham Lincoln, where all of our problems really started.
