Abu Ghraib abuse photos 'show rape'

Scorpion I find it awful hard to believe that Dick Cheney with all of the power he had could not have and would not have released such information about his successes long ago...prior to Obama even being president.

Actually when something from the CIA it's next to impossible to get it released, they don't like their dirty secrete aired. As for Mr.Cheney they would have told him to get bent, I have heard many of a CIA Op say that they only report to God and no matter who sits in the White house they could care less there jobs is to protect America and could care less what Bozo andd VP Bozo ask for.

This has been a problem since the creation of the CIA so it's not like a new problem. But we are going way off topic here so lets just say the CIA said no and that is the end of it

Yes and that is really sad I have quite a few CIA friends and sometime's I don't even understand some of their stance's.

To some extent don't forget the CIA has always been the one agency that congress doesn't want to tangle with why because when the 1947 Security Act was signed they were basically given free ran with out much over site it wasn't till Nam and Air America came out and the publish of The Family Jewels that the American Public realized what the CIA had been doing.

While they might not do some of the nasty they use to do they still wheel allot of power in DC.

You realize that these are different photos being discussed, right?

I get that but again why the hype? We have all saw the pics so what is the big deal about all this? If you wanna see "torture" pics they are all over the net and to try to say this will harm our troops is pure crap. That is all.

How do YOU know it would not arm the troops?

Paul

What is it with this hype about the release of torture and rape photos? The photos have already been online for months and anybody can do a search to find em.

nonsense, these were already proven fakes.

Uggg I hate Korea I hate being TDY their and if that moronic idiot keeps his crazyness up I'm going to have to go back.

You need to leave hooker hill and head out to the real seoul..... ;)

Same with Osan, get out in the town and see some culture, eat the awesome food.

Because first allot of items that have been released should have never been released second according to my boss's these photo's don't exist and since I work for the #3 person at the Penatagon I'm going to beleive him over any English Rag.

Also answer me this folks why weren't any of these soldiers charged with a crime huh come on try to explain that one.

You worked for Douglas Feith or was it Eric S. Edelman, you surely would have mentioned that the current "#3" is not a him but a her namely Michèle Flournoy right?

Interesting. Does "he" or "she know you are discussing things that even hinting that you are in the know about would violate OPSEC and be considered "disseminatination of classified material"?

Either you are full of it, or you just committed a felony.....:rofl:rofl:rofl

Hmm the last time I look at the Leadership list the # 3 person at the Pentagon is Adm. Mullen Chairman of Joint Chiefs. Mrs. Flournoy is Under Secretary of Defense for Policy she has nothing to do with what I do at the Pentagon nor would I or anyone else in my division ever report to her we only report to the Joint Chief and or Mr. Clapper Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.

As for violating OPSEC not even close I have not revealed any classified information nor have I even come close even hinting such items. As I have stated before anything I say you can find with the right FOIA request.

We were told when I was in and I worked in OT&E, even mentioning that you were "in the know" was a big no no. You make yourself a target by doing so.

Perhaps you should check before you get yourself in trouble.

Why'd Obama switch on detainee photos? Maliki went ballistic

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama reversed his decision to release detainee abuse photos from Iraq and Afghanistan after Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki warned that Iraq would erupt into violence and that Iraqis would demand that U.S. troops withdraw from Iraq a year earlier than planned, two U.S. military officers, a senior defense official and a State Department official have told McClatchy.

In the days leading up to a May 28 deadline to release the photos in response to an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit, U.S. officials, led by Christopher Hill, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, told Maliki that the administration was preparing to release photos of suspected detainee abuse taken from 2003 to 2006.

When U.S. officials told Maliki, "he went pale in the face," said a U.S. military official, who along with others requested anonymity because of the matter's sensitivity.

The official said Maliki warned that releasing the photos would lead to more violence that could delay the scheduled U.S. withdrawal from cities by June 30 and that Iraqis wouldn't make a distinction between old and new photos. The public outrage and increase in violence could lead Iraqis to demand a referendum on the security agreement and refuse to permit U.S. forces to stay until the end of 2011.

Maliki said, "Baghdad will burn" if the photos are released, said a second U.S. military official.
A U.S. official who's knowledgeable about the photographs told McClatchy that at least two of them depict nudity; one is of a woman suggestively holding a broomstick; one shows a detainee with bruises but offered no explanation how he got them; and another is of hooded detainees with weapons pointed at their heads.

Well i guess i was wrong and violence would occur.

Well i guess i was wrong and violence would occur.

It's a perverse irony, but the sad reality is that releasing the photos, especially if they are as bad as some claim, would very likely ignite the civil war and chaos the United States needs to avoid if American troops are to be successfully withdrawn from Iraq.

Additionally, Dear Leader has a strategic dilemma as well. Lt General Stanley McChrystal is the officer he and Defense Secretary Bob Gates have tapped to take over the ground effort in Afghanistan. McChrystal already has been linked to abuse charges in Iraq; the photos could put that issue center stage at the worst possible moment if McChrystal is to be successful in Afghanistan.

It may be justice to publish the photos; it very likely would not mean victorious exits from either Iraq or Afghanistan, but rather very bloody defeats. What price in American blood is justice (keeping in mind that the American casualties incurred would like not include the soldiers who committed the abuses depicted in the photographs)?

The pictures will not show those responsible for the decision to mistreat prisoners, yet the public will demand prosecution of those in the pictures. The right will promote the release of the pictures to direct attention from those actually responsible. We have enough evidence of wrongdoing to begin prosecution of those who ordered torture, the photographs are not necessary.
Rockwell, nobody ordered Charlie Graner, Lynndie England, Ivan Frederick, or any of the other stupid thugs at Abu Ghraib to abuse those detainees. That is a fantasy of the lunatic left-wing fringe, in their ceaseless campaign to have Soviet-style show trials of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rove.

Graner and others claimed that they were just following orders. But they were interviewed by the investigative team led by Maj. General Antonio Taguba. The investigators looked these stupid thugs in the eye, observed their body language and demeanor, heard their tone of voice, and decided that when they claimed that they were just following orders, they were lying.

Criminal liability did not rise any higher in the chain of command than Graner, a sergeant. Non-criminal disciplinary action did not rise any higher than Brig. General Janis Karpinski, Graner's brigade commander. She was reduced in rank to colonel and her career in the Army was completely destroyed, much like all the officers in the chain of command between Karpinski and Graner.

This resolution exactly followed the recommendations made by Antonio Taguba, a man of honor whose conduct of the Abu Ghraib investigation was completely above reproach. Unless you think Taguba was lying, shut up. If you think he was lying, present your evidence.
