Last I heard the average Iranian isn't as brainwashed as the average Iraqi.
If their govt sent them into harms way, most would surrender as soon as they met the first enemy, and they should pray that it will be American or UN troops.
Just because an idiot general says his army has the capability to do something doesn't mean it is true.
I believe if Israel did take out Iran's nuclear facilities, Iran would roll over and beg the rest of the world for assistance.
It isn't the size of the dog in the fight, it is the size of the fight in the dog.
Iranian troops are puppies who hide under the porch while others do the real fighting.

Small country, surrounded by fanatical enemies, makes sense that Israel would want better weapons than their arab neighbors. We should not allow any unstable countries have anything bigger than an AK47....
Why should Israel depend on retaliation from its friends? They are perfectly capable of doing it themselves.

They are also perfectly capabable of being arrogant and impetous and turning the Middle East into wasteland when they mess with the wrong nation and get overrun.

As many enemies Israel has, they are all talk. They tend to talk until some of their young, ignorant, pliable citizens agree to wear a special vest. As for actually taking out Israel, every educated Arab knows that it would probably end life for them as they know it. So they spew and sputter, but not one Arab leader alive has the nerve to be the first target for Israeli retaliation...

Arrogance is never pretty, but from someone who can actually deliver is not so ugly either.
Impetuous? hardly...most of the time they display a lot of restraint when the rockets fall.

I really don't understand why so many people simply dismiss Iranian threats as mere rhetoric and posturing when it is quite clear that they are a country lead by apocalyptic religious zealots hell bent on bringing about the coming of the 12th Iman and care nothing for the well being of their citizenry or even the continued existence of their country and in fact are quite excited about the idea of martyrdom.

no, I think they will do many small things abut it....but that is all.
Tell me, is the Iranian military an all volunteer force?
or are most of them there due to a mililtary draft?
and how many of those who join up voluntarily are normal people as opposed to religious fanatics?

I could have sworn that was a clear yes. Iran not only could and would attack Israel but they have attacked Israel hundreds of times.

But I doubt they are capable of a direct conventional military attack but perhaps they might employ the revolutionary guard Qods forces.

I don't think they are capable of a direct military attack save perhaps for the use of the revolutionary guard Qods forces.

They've done a pretty good job in the last few years I seriously doubt that Iran can infiltrate Israel proper anymore than it already has been.

Iran does not have any, save for long range missiles. Ergo, how exactly is Israel going to wipe out Israel?

Suicide bombers? That will wipe out a country? Hardly, if anything, it woul galvinze world opinion againt whoever set them off, and state sponsored terrorism leaves plenty of trails leading back to the source .... just ask the Taliban.

Are Hizbollah and Hamas going to do what the entire massed Arab Armies couldn't, and can't do? Do you think they are going to 'invade' Israel and that they would get even one inch into Israel using offensive military tactics before there was an overwhelming military response?

Perhaps the Iranian Airforce? Would that stand a chance of getting through US monitored Iraqi skies, or Saudi skies patrolled by F-15 and British Tornados?

No, the 'only' threat that Iran has to Israel, and even that is further reduced in effectivness by patriot batteries.

No, all that is being said is some tough talk, the equivalent of saying, "Yeah, I can take the toughest guy on the block (so long as he is out of ear shot)."

That so many people will try so hard to make Iran, whose annual military budget is an accounting error in the Pentagon into a regional, much less global, threat is every bit as silly as it sounds.

Iran is, at best, an annoyance militarily, and if you read a little bit of military doctrine, you'd quickly discover that the warning to never under-estimate your enemy is quickly followed by the stern warning to never over-estimate your enemy with potentially even greater dangers resulting from the miscalculation.

The problem is that the Iranian leadership has the will and the desire if not the capability to attack Israel which is seen through numerous attacks carried out by their proxies which is why they can not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
