Obama faces down abortion heckles

I'd say most Americans I meet on message boards are more ignorant of British politics than I am American but when it comes to say Spanish politics I'm barely less ignorant than them.

Why are the Republicans fixated on the prompters? Do they expect the president to deliver a speech from memory? From notes? You know he delivers several speeches a day.
Obama conducts Town Hall meetings constantly and never uses a prompter because he can't, they are spontaneous. He seems pretty good in Town Hall meetings, brilliant actually. So what exactly is your complaint?

Indeed but it was changed not randomly but through the Pope's decision after much analysis and such. I don't know but I got the impression you were suggesting the church did 8it almost randomly.

You see the thing with the church is, they ban something and label it wrong because god said so when really some pope just decided after "a bit of research" that it was wrong. Theres loads of reasons why religious people are hypocrits. The Muslims being the worse. The thing with religion is, they preach peace and equality and all that nonsense, but when it comes down to it, there killing each other, opressing women and are the cause for the worlds bloodiest conflicts ever.

16) Money cannot be lent at interest to your brother, only to foreigners (Deuteronomy 23: 19-20) Ahhh, I’m recalling all the Christian banking corporations....

17) Eating pork is forbidden (Deuteronomy 14:8). Hmm, I’ve never met a Christian who DIDN’T enjoy bacon and eggs.

18) A man must marry and have relations with his dead brother’s wife (Deuteronomy 25:5-6). This goes without explaining of course.

19) A seducer must marry an unengaged virgin whom he seduces (Exodus 22:16-17)

20) A raped, unengaged virgin must marry her rapist and they can never divorce (Deuteronomy 22:28-29). What justice the “moral majority” advocates!

21) There are several petty and silly little verses in the O.T., but none the less, they are to be followed. I guess it’s okay to disobey the lord for fashion’s sake. Beards can’t be rounded (Leviticus 19:27); A garment composed of wool and linen can’t be worn (Deuteronomy 22:11); Note: this explains why you will commonly see orthodox Jews with the long beards and black clothing. I say Christians should do this too so we can identify their stupidity upon first impression.

22) Bastards can’t enter the Lord’s congregation. (Deuteronomy 23:2) Hey, I know this is harsh, but God commands it, hence it must be “just”.

I have nothing against religion i just disagree with people who dont think here hypocrits.

When Cicero addressed the Roman Senate for a major speech, he probably had notes. Does Obama use prompters at town hall meetings? If he is so incompetent, how could he face random questions and respond so fluently without the prompters?

I don't think the use of embryos is necessary anymore for stem cell research, not with the advent of technology that allows other kinds of cells (like skin cells) to be reverted back into stem cells. If they are still gathering new embryos then I don't understand the reason, unless it's more cost effective. In any case, if embryos that are a few weeks old are eligible for abortion then I don't see why they shouldn't be eligible for research. It's contradictory to say that they aren't human enough to outlaw abortion yet creating life saving techniques with them is wrong somehow.

It's also interesting to note that a lot of umbillical cords are used in stem cell research, particularly the blood inside of them, as well as discarded placentas. If this bugs you then when you give birth you can ask to have them returned to you. Some women do this because they want to eat them. (No, I'm not joking.)

If I remember my recent lectures on second and first century BC Rome the great orators did not use any notes.
