CIA Says Pelosi Was Briefed on Use of 'Enhanced Interrogations'

Public question to President Obama & Atty. General Holder:

Is waterboarding torture?

Answer from Both...YES

Geneva Conventions & Int'l law:
Torturing a prisoner IS a war crime.

Therefore...Bush & Cheney have confessed to authorizing war crimes.

And Obama who just said DONT TORTURE....unless you have to.

Even Cheney admits he does not remember if Pelosi was "briefed" on waterboarding, so where is the lie? Provide a link please
Oh here it comes....diversion to hide his Epic Fail. :rofl

Nobody's rushing. Rove, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Addington, etc., etc. are criminals.

"Assholes"? Hmmm, me thinks somebody's got his panties in a twist. ;) Starting to feel the heat over the testimony coming out about the truth of all this torture getting to ya? :2wave:

I can see it now; six years later when I have been proved right and nothing has changed and no REAL charges are filed, you will still be in the same parroting the same asinine moveon.org claims you always have.

But alas, it’s apparently all you have left to cling to.

You won't have to wait 6 years to see the hammer of justice come down on your buddies. The truth is coming out on that torture heaven that Cheney and those crooked lawyers dreamed up. Read about today's testimonies.

Your boys are about to be fitted with striped suits. :2wave:

You really believe that?

What was Pelosi's lie?

Security Before Politics

""In the fall of 2002, while I was chairman of the House intelligence committee, senior members of Congress were briefed on the CIA's "High Value Terrorist Program," including the development of "enhanced interrogation techniques" and what those techniques were. This was not a one-time briefing but an ongoing subject with lots of back and forth between those members and the briefers. "

Let me be clear. It is my recollection that:

-- The chairs and the ranking minority members of the House and Senate intelligence committees, known as the Gang of Four, were briefed that the CIA was holding and interrogating high-value terrorists.

-- We understood what the CIA was doing.

-- We gave the CIA our bipartisan support.

-- We gave the CIA funding to carry out its activities.

-- On a bipartisan basis, we asked if the CIA needed more support from Congress to carry out its mission against al-Qaeda.

I do not recall a single objection from my colleagues."

Porter J. Goss
Director of the CIA from September 2004 to May 2006 and was chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence from 1997 to 2004.

Get over it. Its either a pack of lying SOBs we have in congress or an alzheimer's pandemic is is in full swing in the capitol. Which is more likely?

pssst... Pelosi said she attended a briefing. Did you miss that ream of threads?

Oh sweet TD, I found you! Hey, since you are really busy contributing in this thread, I could really use your help over in this thread... http://www.debatepolitics.com/breaking-news/47583-dilemma-dissent-former-bush-aide-looks-back.html.

There are several questions I've asked you that you have not responded to. I'm sure you have simply been very busy.

Thanks.

:2wave:

How funny that you think that you can keep running in circles asking me questions when you won't even do me the same courtesy.....your response is waiting. But I don't expect the OBVIOUS to actually have an effect on you. :2wave:

Obviously it is the former rather than the latter. But let's also not forget that the purposes of this willful denial is purely political and that this has been a recurring theme with Democrats since their decision to vote FOR the War in Iraq.

I would be more than happy to accept a gentleman's bet on this; say loser wears an asshat avatar for a period of 6 months?

Ahhhh, so this is just how frustrated you are with all the testimony being given showing how illegal Cheney's torture program was. First you come out swearing at people and now you've retreated to the old juvenile "Oh yeah, wanna bet?"

Yours lacks stripes.

If we could not support stupid politicians, who could we support? The two words kinda belong together.

It's easy to look back after the fact and say she should have done things different, but as things stand now, this looks to be a lot less of an issue as it first appeared(which does disappoint me in a way, I thought maybe we could get a new speaker out of this).

On this subject overall though...how about we just blanket pardon/give immunity to every one involved, and then investigate and find out what happened without any stigma involved? Follow up with a new set of clearer rules about what we are allowed and not allowed to do to prisoners, and then move on and put this whole thing behind us.

I have no desire to see any politicians prosecuted for supporting waterboarding. I completely support waterboarding when done for the right reasons (as I believe it was done). However, I would like to see public rebuke of partisan hacks like Pelosi who have lied their asses off while trying to put others in jail who have no more responsibility for such actions than she does. She is a lying, hypocritical jackass, who, if she was a Republican, would have her mug posted on every major TV network with a caption letting us know what an evil bitch she is. However, she is a Democrat, therefore, she barely makes the news!

Oh here it comes....diversion to hide his Epic Fail. :rofl

Since you are so outraged by Pelosi's "deception", you must REALLY be pissed by the actual people who orchestrated the torture. I know you can't wait for the hearings...neither can I.

I will take this as meaning; "no TD, you know I cannot stand by my false assertions and hyper partisan rhetoric."

Carry on. :2wave:

Hey Truth Detector, I am still waiting for you to show where I rushed to judgment on Rove, Bush and Cheney as you claimed I did. Show it or retract it, I am waiting.

You seem to be upset by Pelosi but not upset by the torture itself. How is that possible?

More like irritated by the blatant hypocrisy.
Apparently this irritation can be considered extreme torture by todays standards.

So I am not upset at all. Just a poor tortured soul.

At the very least Pelosi should be removed as Speaker of the House. She makes my skin crawl.

The Obama administration's CIA director, Leon Panetta, and Mr. Goss have both disputed Mrs. Pelosi's account.

In a report to Congress on May 5, Mr. Panetta described the CIA's 2002 meeting with Mrs. Pelosi as "Briefing on EITs including use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah, background on [legal] authorities, and a description of the particular EITs that had been employed." Note the past tense -- "had been employed."

Mr. Goss says he and Mrs. Pelosi were told at the 2002 briefing about the use of the EITs and "on a bipartisan basis, we asked if the CIA needed more support from Congress to carry out its mission." He is backed by CIA sources who say Mr. Goss and Mrs. Pelosi "questioned whether we were doing enough" to extract information.

We also know that Michael Sheehy, then Mrs. Pelosi's top aide on the Intelligence Committee and later her national security adviser, not only attended the September 2002 meeting but was also briefed by the CIA on EITs on Feb. 5, 2003, and told about a videotape of Zubaydah being waterboarded. Mr. Sheehy was almost certain to have told Mrs. Pelosi. He has not commented publicly about the 2002 or the 2003 meetings.
