I don't know which is worse....

The fact that she lied like this.
or
The fact that she thinks she can lie like this.

.

Wrong questions.

The fact she lies and people still defend her, or that she lies like this and we're told it's different because... she cares.

I'm still waiting for someone to prove how Pelosi lied. Show me what she said that shows this. No assumptions please.

I don't care for Pelosi, at all. I also refuse to rush to judgment on issues. If it turns out that we can prove she lied, I will happily condemn her. Right now the facts are somewhat in question yet, so I am holding off.

I can tell you have a hard time being objective about this. I am not sure if it is just your rabid partisanship, or that you hate women in power, but you are really getting carried away worked up over this.
Well just as fact as the otherside has been. No one can prove that Bush lied, yet we hear did daily.....for 8 years.

Pelosi didn't lie and they know it. The point of this ridiculous charge is to divert the torture argument to Pelosi instead of the Bush administration. It's a Chewbaca defense.

You said she lied. I ask you again what her lie was.

She claimed she was not briefed on the use of waterboarding....

"In that or any other briefing we were not, and I repeat, were not told that waterboarding or any of these other enhanced interrogation techniques were used. What they did tell us is that they had some legislative counsel opinions that they could be used," -Nancy Pelosi

Even Cheney admits he does not remember if Pelosi was "briefed" on waterboarding, so where is the lie? Provide a link please

It's right in front of your face.

Read the circled part where it lists pelosi's name as being briefed.

It is proven, stop digging, it looks foolish.

That is not a link, and doesn't provide information. Let me give you an example of a useful link, and please refrain from the constant sniggering, it makes you look foolish.

In September 2002, four members of Congress met in secret for a first look at a unique CIA program designed to wring vital information from reticent terrorism suspects in U.S. custody. For more than an hour, the bipartisan group, which included current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was given a virtual tour of the CIA's overseas detention sites and the harsh techniques interrogators had devised to try to make their prisoners talkCongressional officials say the groups' ability to challenge the practices was hampered by strict rules of secrecy that prohibited them from being able to take notes or consult legal experts or members of their own staffs. And while various officials have described the briefings as detailed and graphic, it is unclear precisely what members were told about waterboarding and how it is conducted.
Hill Briefed on Waterboarding in 2002 - washingtonpost.com

Two relevant points here:
1 - the members were forbidden to discuss, take notes, or challenge what they were told
2 - there is no evidence that the torture aspects of waterboarding were described. At that time (2007) the official description of waterboarding (which we all heard) was that it was simulated drowning, and even that a plastic film prevented water from actually entering the victim. If the Congressmen heard these same lies, they would have no idea of the true details of the practice.

Uhm that is the form filled out as to who attended and what was discussed. Nothing you can say will change the fact that Pelosi lied.

"A source close to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi now confirms that Pelosi was told in February 2003 by her intelligence aide, Michael Sheehy, that waterboarding was actually used on CIA detainee Abu Zubaydah. "

Stop digging.

Since you quoted me for this, you can find where I have alleged that President Bush lied. I doubt you will find it, I try and be careful about accusations.

Well, if "a source close to her" said it I guess that would stand up in a court of law. :doh

I said Bush lied. All you have to do is Google "Bush lies" and you'll need a wheel barrel to carry all the sites that come up.

Peruse these for your own entertainment. However, be warned. You may need a hanky to wipe away your tears. The realization of the behavior of a United States of America President is down right sad. Sad indeed.

Iraq: The War Card - The Center for Public Integrity

False Pretenses
Following 9/11, President Bush and seven top officials of his administration waged a carefully orchestrated campaign of misinformation about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

January 23, 2008

President George W. Bush and seven of his administration's top officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, made at least 935 false statements in the two years following September 11, 2001, about the national security threat posed by Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Nearly five years after the U.S. invasion of Iraq, an exhaustive examination of the record shows that the statements were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanized public opinion and, in the process, led the nation to war under decidedly false pretenses.

On at least 532 separate occasions (in speeches, briefings, interviews, testimony, and the like), Bush and these three key officials, along with Secretary of State Colin Powell, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, and White House press secretaries Ari Fleischer and Scott McClellan, stated unequivocally that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction (or was trying to produce or obtain them), links to Al Qaeda, or both. This concerted effort was the underpinning of the Bush administration's case for war.

It is now beyond dispute that Iraq did not possess any weapons of mass destruction or have meaningful ties to Al Qaeda. This was the conclusion of numerous bipartisan government investigations, including those by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (2004 and 2006), the 9/11 Commission, and the multinational Iraq Survey Group, whose "Duelfer Report" established that Saddam Hussein had terminated Iraq's nuclear program in 1991 and made little effort to restart it.

In short, the Bush administration led the nation to war on the basis of erroneous information that it methodically propagated and that culminated in military action against Iraq on March 19, 2003. Not surprisingly, the officials with the most opportunities to make speeches, grant media interviews, and otherwise frame the public debate also made the most false statements, according to this first-ever analysis of the entire body of prewar rhetoric.

The Other Lies of George Bush
The Other Lies of George Bush
George W. Bush is a liar. He has lied large and small, directly and by omission. His Iraq lies have loomed largest. In the run-up to the invasion, Bush based his case for war on a variety of unfounded claims that extended far beyond his controversial uranium-from-Niger assertion. He maintained that Saddam Hussein possessed "a massive stockpile" of unconventional weapons and was directly "dealing" with Al Qaeda--two suppositions unsupported then (or now) by the available evidence. He said the International Atomic Energy Agency had produced a report in 1998 noting that Iraq was six months from developing a nuclear weapon; no such report existed (and the IAEA had actually reported then that there was no indication Iraq had the ability to produce weapons-grade material). Bush asserted that Iraq was "harboring a terrorist network, headed by a senior Al Qaeda terrorist planner"; US intelligence officials told reporters this terrorist was operating ouside of Al Qaeda control. And two days before launching the war, Bush said, "Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised." Yet former deputy CIA director Richard Kerr, who is conducting a review of the prewar intelligence, has said that intelligence was full of qualifiers and caveats, and based on circumstantial and inferential evidence. That is, it was not no-doubt stuff. And after the major fighting was done, Bush declared, "We found the weapons of mass destruction." But he could only point to two tractor-trailers that the CIA and the Defense Intelligence Agency had concluded were mobile bioweapons labs. Other experts--including the DIA's own engineering experts--disagreed with this finding.

But Bush's truth-defying crusade for war did not mark a shift for him. Throughout his campaign for the presidency and his years in the White House, Bush has mugged the truth in many other areas to advance his agenda. Lying has been one of the essential tools of his presidency. To call the forty-third President of the United States a prevaricator is not an exercise of opinion, not an inflammatory talk-radio device. Rather, it is backed up by an all-too-extensive record of self-serving falsifications.

And one of the best sources of Bush's lies is: Lie by Lie: The Mother Jones Iraq War Timeline (8/1/90 - 2/14/08) | Mother Jones
Lie by Lie: The Mother Jones Iraq War Timeline (8/1/90 - 2/14/08)
In this timeline, we've assembled the history of the Iraq War to create a resource we hope will help resolve open questions of the Bush era. What did our leaders know and when did they know it?

And, perhaps just as important, what red flags did we miss, and how could we have missed them? This is the third installment of the timeline, with a focus on Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, and torture in a time of terror.

This has a great timeline with all of Bush's lies documented.

It is a fact, George W. Bush lied to the American people... over and over and over...

You may have said it, but I did not. And yet the accusation was made to me.

Yet everyone was fine rushing to judgment about Rove, Bush and Cheney calling them morons, claiming they were criminals and prosecuting them in the court of public opinion; but God forbid we should now want to rush to any judgment against the very offensively repugnant assholes who knew what was happening all along and now try to lie about it.

Nobody's rushing. Rove, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Addington, etc., etc. are criminals.

"Assholes"? Hmmm, me thinks somebody's got his panties in a twist. ;) Starting to feel the heat over the testimony coming out about the truth of all this torture getting to ya? :2wave:

I did this when? Since I was talking about my opinions, you need to show where I rushed to judgment on those people or withdraw the claim.
