Intelligence officials released documents this evening saying that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was briefed in September 2002 about the use of harsh interrogation tactics against al-Qaeda prisoners, seemingly contradicting her repeated statements over the past 18 months that she was never told that these techniques were actually being used.

In a 10-page memo outlining an almost seven-year history of classified briefings, intelligence officials said that Pelosi and then-Rep. Porter Goss (R-Fla.) were the first two members of Congress ever briefed on the interrogation tactics. Then the ranking member and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, respectively, Pelosi and Goss were briefed Sept. 4, 2002, one week before the first anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The memo, issued by the Director of National Intelligence and the Central Intelligence Agency to Capitol Hill, notes the Pelosi-Goss briefing covered "EITs including the use of EITs on Abu Zubaydah." EIT is an acronym for enhanced interrogation technique. Zubaydah was one of the earliest valuable al-Qaeda members captured and the first to have the controversial tactic known as water boarding used against him.

What did she know?

Everything.

When did she know it?

Before it started.

What's her verdict? Well, if you're an Obama lovin, Democrat? Not guilty.

Because, Democrats like Nancy P, well they cannot be responsible for TORTURE!

We knew she was lying all a long. She new that EIT's were being used on Abu Zubaydah. She new about it alsmost 7 years ago. This should not surprise anyone. She is a hypocrite and a lier.

NANCY PELOSI HYPOCRITICAL LIAR

I love all the attention the debate over Bush got, but when it's a dem, the libs are silent.

Awesome. She knew. Off to jail with her and all those who knew. Now does that mean we get to send the entire Bush administration in too?

Here, let me end the lib silence briefly, though you will be some what disappointed with what I say.

If this turns out to be accurate, and I have no reason to believe it won't, Pelosi should at the very least step down as Speaker of the House. We as democrats have to send the message that we are better than this. She embarrasses not just herself, but democrats as a whole.

Now, the odds of that happening are slim, but that is what I think should happen. I don't think there are any ethics rules or laws that can be used to punish her on this sadly. I have no use for corrupt or dishonest politicians of either party.

I am not defending Pelosi but she lied, so what? Show me a politician who hasn't.

She wasn't the only Dem to know... you don't get teh damage this is going to do to the DNC do you?

These calls to disbar the Lawyers advising the Bush administration, the calls for investigations... if they go after Bush, but not Pelosi and the others (which they won't) it's gonna be so sweet.

I don't care. Send her to jail if it means sending the Bush administration to jail. :)

Great. Let's go after both. Bush AND Pelosi. I don't care at the end of the day. Then we can go after every Republican & Democrat who knew about this. Sanctorum, Rummy, etc etc. What's wrong? Too bipartisan for you? I'm all for going after anybody who knew about this waterboarding thing from the get go and did nothing relevant to stop it.

No, I'm happy you say this, I think you're WRONG, seeing as I believe that the EIT was proper and useful...

But we both know Pelosi won't be held to the fire for this.

Should we also send to prison those members of the US military which designed and carried out SERE (Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape) training. This involves waterboardong US military personal during interrogation survival training?

No, because those people volunteered for training to survive torture. They were not criminally tortured, they were trained on what to expect. We tortured people who did not consent to it.

Pelosi should go down with the Bush and the rest of them. I can't stand that women. Hopefully Harry Reid knew as well.

No they volunteered to endure EIT's (enhanced interrogation techniques). EIT's are not torture. Are you suggesting that we ask terrorist such as Kalid Sheikh Mohammed if we can please waterboard him. Maybe we should just be nice to the poor SOB. How soon we forget.

It's torture and I simply disagree with us doing it. I would like to think that there are still some things that separate us from them.

Nailed.

She should be forced to resign for conduct unbecoming of a US Congresswoman.

If we made that a crime and resignation the appropriate punishment we'd have 535 vacancies in Congress in short order.

Strangely enough, I'm not seeing a down side to that.

Three words, or in the case of Joe Biden... two.

"Culture of Corruption."

Her mantra and noose.

Obviously, like the Dems war vote, which was political gauze to fill a gaping wound; 30-years of hostility to our intel and military... this is another Democrat moment of CYA.

What YOU folks define as torture... waterboarding... was just fine in the highly sensitive post 911 setting. It was A-OK, but just as the Dems began their shell game with their war vote... going back to their scorpion ways of attacking what they voted for... they also found a new toy in the Military/Intel arena that they believed could score them more points, and weaken our national security.

I look forward to seeing this halfwit Speaker slither out of this one.

You mean our enemies are allowed to use waterboarding?
