College Student Shoots, Kills Home Invader

Good quick thinking on the student's part. At least things turned out as well as they could have given the situation and no innocent people were killed or raped.

After all this, I bet the student purchases a holster for his firearm.

No doubt this won't make national news, because it proves that citizens can actually defend other's with firearms.

R U kidding? This will be all over the news! And Billo is gonna have a field day with it. Watch to see how long it takes an NRA spokeman to use this.

Watch to see if someone questions if the guy had a permit for the gun, if it was his. It wasn't clear whose gun it was.

Cue Budweiser commercial music:

"We salute you, Mr. College student scumbag-shooter-guy."

Seriously, if it hadn't been for this armed citizen, we might have been seeing on the national news something like: "Ten college students in Georgia found dead in a home, sexually molested and shot execution-style. No suspects have been arrested yet..."

Good job, man. An armed citizen on hand is better than a cop on the phone.

It would be his turn to pick up the soap in the showers in prison if this happened in England, PC labour wankers.

..."cop on the phone"? All I`ve ever gotten on the phone is some mental midgit, doing the 20 questions thing.
Q1 what is the nature of your emergency? "...BAM...BAM...BAM...I ...UH...I`m in a gun fight and this guy, well, I don`t know BAM...G O D PLEASE HELP".
Q2 What is the address you are at. "...._ _ _ _"!
SIR! It is a misdemenor to curse at a 9 1 1 operator. ...BAM.
SIR ? ...SIR? ...Darn pranksters.

R U kidding? This happens multiple times every month and how many times do you hear about it??

Why would he need a permit??

Most places you need a permit to fish, so I guess you need one to kill.

It is not "all over the news".... Though Obama having tater tots, and hamburgers is.

"It depends". This was in NC right? Unlike most Southern States, in NC you have to have a state permit to buy a pistol, if I'm informed correctly. Bleah. :thumbdown
(No permit required to buy in SC, or most other southern states.)

If he'd been out in public, he would have needed a concealed carry permit. Since he was on private property, if the homeowner has no issue with him being armed, they probably cannot charge him with any sort of possession issue.

Otherwise it sounds like pretty straightforward self-defense, legally speaking... I doubt he will be charged with anything.

I am sure he will be charged with something, though. His neighbor, who he helped out, is likely to charge the student with heroism, and the sentence will be the neighbor buying the student a beer.

Great story. I'm eager to get my CHL in July for reasons just like this.

Georgia is one of those states that finds it absurd to require a permit to exercise a right, but I am sure some anti-constitutionalists will ask anyways if the man had a permit.

Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence
LICENSE OR PERMIT TO PURCHASE
Is a license/permit required to buy handguns? No

Georgia - No state requirement that handgun buyers obtain a handgun license or undergo any type of safety training prior to buying a handgun.

Thank God. This is just another prime example of why we must resist those who seek to infringe upon the Second Amendent, who wish to leave law-abiding citizens entirely at the mercy of murderers and thugs.

Good point, because exercising Second Amendment rights should be done in a responsible way. Training is important with ANY weapon. That's one reason I used to a member of the NRA, before they got political. When I was in a kid, my entire Boy Scout troop took hunter's safety and handgun safety courses through the NRA. Despite their going downhill in the last several years, the NRA does very good work in firearms education. On the political side, though, Gun Owners of America is a better organization, but that does not detract from the good work the NRA does.

I take it even further, saftey courses, marksmanship courses are not enough. You NEED to take a home defense course, and you need to practice and drill this until it becomes instinct.

Training on how to fight with a gun is as important as handing the gunshop your credit card. ;)

I'm not saying this because I'm opposed to the idea...

I think it's sad that we live in a day and age where home defense courses are a necessary part of life.
