FBI's newest 'Most Wanted' terrorist is American

I post this thread in response to the orchestrated campaign, recently run here at DP, that attempts to show the worst domestic terrorist wackos are right wing. The FBI's most wanted list today has an American domestic terrorist at the top of the list. Guess what? He is not right wing at all, but left wing. I know, I know, the response will be "This is an attempt by the government to make it look like the left is crazy". I counter that with "Bush is no longer in power, and it is the Obama justice Department that put him there.

Conversely, some on the right have attempted to portray the left as the purveyor of terrorism.

Look, folks. When extremists commit criminal acts, it is not the right wing or the left wing they represent. No matter their cause, they do it a disservice by attempting to speak for that cause. Whether the issue is anti-abortionists or anti-animal abuse, violence and terrorism are anti-American, whether done by the right or by the left.

The right and the left may have serious differences with each other, but as Americans, can't we all just come together and renounce those on both sides who resort to violence? This isn't a political football to pass around. This IS ABOUT ACTING LIKE AMERICANS AND RENOUNCING TERRORISM - ALL TERRORISM. Anything else is just plain childish.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The FBI for the first time has placed an animal rights activist on the bureau's "Most Wanted Terrorists" list.

The FBI announced Tuesday the addition of Daniel Andreas San Diego to the list, hoping a burst of international publicity associated with the move will help investigators find him after six years on the run.

San Diego, 31, may appear to be out of place on a terrorist list with familiar names like al Qaeda's Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri and Adam Yahiye Gadahn. The "strict vegan," according to the FBI, is charged with bombing two corporate offices in California in 2003. The blasts caused extensive property damage but no deaths.

Vegans eat no meat or any other food containing animal products.

Authorities allege San Diego bombed facilities in Emeryville and Pleasanton, California, because he believed the Chiron and Shaklee Corporations had ties to animal-testing labs.

He's an animal-rights nut. It doesn't appear that he's killed anyone. Furthermore, nowhere have I read that he is, in fact, a leftist. I'd appreciate a link clarifying this (not that it matters, really, just a note of interest).The fact that he's an animal rights type and a vegan doesn't make him a Hollywood Liberal type, I know more conservative vegans than liberals, for what it's worth.

Edit: He's from my home county. He's DEFINITELY a liberal.

Why the **** does it matter if a person on the "Most Wanted" list is right or left wing? A blown up building is a blown up building. The person is arrested not the ideals behind.

I bet there are some right and left wing nut jobs who have no committed a single terrible act in their lives.

Geeezzz as I've said before an Extremist is neither left, nor right, they are a class of their own and should be treated as such.

Never has it mattered to me, but it tickles me pink that both John Walker Lindh and this character are both from where I'm from.

And like you say, AE, I'm a left wing nut job who has not committed a single terrible act in my life!
