Pirates seize 10 Italians in U.S.-owned tugboat

I don't know why a few civilized nations don't send a few (let's say 2) gun ships each to escort vessels as they move through the high risk regions plus arm the vessels that are traveling. How hard can it really be for the world to stop a handful of pirates from taking merchant ships? Really...make pirating too high risk and the pirates will dissolve. Pirates are pirates because there is easy money to be had at a very low risk. Just put an end to the benefit.

I'm also not opposed to bombing the Somali coast or any place that might be harboring pirates to take away this idea that the pirates are doing good. Give them no quarter and place hardship on the people that would support them. It would be done inside of a year if we would just do something about it.

Yeah ... thanks to Ethiopia and US's oh-so wonderful plan, Somalia is under Sharia law when previously under the old Islamic Government, it was not and pirating has increased practically 100%.
Another mission accomplished i see .....

Pirating will not stop without a stable Somalia.
Did GWB do this? Damn him.

For those that think this is so amirable because they are poor, would you also think it admirable of a poor person to break into you house and hold your family at gun point until a ransom is paid or is it just admirable when done to others?

.

I am not trying to play the blame game, but do we know these are Pirates for sure, or could they plausibly be some form of Privateers?

This is where I draw the line. Time for negotiations is over, I want to see the term "pirate" erased from Somalia's dialect, immediately.

1. Privateering hasn't been legal since the 1800s. The individuals in question are scumbag pirates.

2. I agree --- it's to liquidate some pirate scum.
