Sen. Kerry makes push for tighter gun control

Senators hear how AK-47s make it to Mexico drug gangs | Front page | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

Kerry called for a ban on the imports of assault rifles, such as the AK-47, into the United States. Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., and Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., opposed the idea.

This gun grabbing anti-constitutional dirt bag is at it again. What would enacting this anti-constitutional law solve?

It is a smoke screen for the hoplophobic prohibitionist kooks and thier gun grabbing ways.

Why the hell should Mexico's problem take my rights?

You would think that a Vietnam Veteran would understand the purposes of gun ownership. As for the current excuse of using Mexican Drug Violence for calling for gun grabbing, Kerry fails once again. Instead how about we actually seal up the border and eliminate the forbidden fruit aspect of the drug war.

Does anyone STILL think that gun owners are "paranoid"?
:doh

John Kerry, I give a crap about his opinion as he is the same bucket as Dan Quale.

I've seen pictures of the guns they're confiscating. Most of it looks like milspec to me.

Yeah, they're getting their guns from the US all right. Just not from any of the places that American citizens get theirs. They're getting guns that are illegal here-- how is banning more of our guns supposed to solve that?

This isn't the first time that a lobby has used congress' miseducation on an issue to push forward an agenda. The "war on drugs" itself was caused by such action... how ironic that the restriction of firearms is now linked to that.

Recently, The Obama made the case for a new 'assault weapon' ban, based on the illegal exportation to Mexico of 'assault weapons' bought illegally in the US. I suspect this is a continuation of that, as the rhetoric is the same.

This illustrates 2 things:
-The Obam and His ilk are desperate to ban 'assault weapons'
-Their desperation is so deep that they must argue 'crime in Mexico' as a means to that end.

I knew these guys were dumb, but not this dumb. What part of "shall not be infringed" do they NOT understand? Otherwise, if they are ignoring that little phrase, then they are not upholding their oaths to protect the constitution and essentially are criminals.

Well, you know, banning a certain kind of gun doesn't infringe you rright to keep and bear arms, as you still have access to other kinds of guns.

You know, like banning the Roman Catholic Church doesnt abridge your right to your free exercise of religion, as you can still be a Protestant or Jew or whatever else.

Also, gun owners continue to quote the second amendment and ask.. "What part of this don't they understand?"

The simple fact of the matter is they understand it plainly, they don't give a **** what you think.

We are their subjects, and they could give a rat's ass about us as long as we're paying our taxes and going about our merry day...

more proof of this, here:

I have to take an 8 hour class, pass a test, then pass a shooting exam.. wait 30-45 days for my permit.. but they can simply bypass all that "cause they're a congress member"? Just another point that we're simply turning into an aristocracy.

Of course.

They can't impose the Anti-Dog-Eat-Dog Rule until they've disarmed the people.

Well, Obama would naturally veto this because Gun owners have nothing to worry about with Obama, right?

Given Kerry's track record, there is absolutely nothing to worry about.

He'll write the legislation, take some grief over it, conduct a poll, then be opposed to it.

Whats more telling is that their are no real numbers saying how many fake ak's are making it to Mexico.

At best for their argument they have id that they found 60 of them. That is a pathetic reason to call for a nation wide ban.

I would much rather the focus be on tighter border security to stop weapons from entering the country then to focus on denying Americans rights to operate the weapons once it's here.

That scenario would essentially make them criminals, as they are sworn to protect the constitution, many of them belong in prison for other reasons as well.

Well you go ahead and start citizen's arresting them for violating the constitution.

You let me know how well that goes. :doh

Simple point, we're turning into an aristocracy, where a select few have all the power and can do whatever they want.

Nah, I realize there's nothing that can be done right now, but I wouldn't mind a really good shakeup after the next couple of elections, get some real hardasses who believe in the constitution, and start sending these clowns where they belong for 10-25, that'll send a real strong message to those to follow that we're tired of the encroaching government expansion and will do whatever possible to protect the constitution.

Not gonna happen.

The GOP isn't even using the word "Constitution", and they're the party out on their asses right now.

The beloved "people" of this country are too damn stupid to understand that the failures of government they're bitching about are failures caused because they themselves don't want to be free but instead want to be coddled.

And whenever I set a coddled egg free, it just falls to the floor and makes a big mess. Which is what happens with coddled false Americans, too.

(Real Americans can't be coddled, as everyone knows)

I see something happening, just not yet. With both parties approval numbers tanking, their respective constituents anger growing, and all of the other things I am seeing there is definitely something brewing, throw in the slow pace of third party growth and we have a slow movement building. While I don't think we are at the political tipping point yet, I think it is getting there.

And the first rule of an aristocracy is that the aristocrats have all the weapons.
