BBC NEWS | Middle East | Israel army rides out T-shirt row

...One example shows a pregnant Arab women in the cross-hairs of a sniper's sight with the legend "1 shot 2 kills"...

...Another design shows a child being similarly targeted with the slogan "the smaller they, are the harder it is"...

...In both images the people being targeted appear to be carrying weapons. A third T-shirt design shows a dead Palestinian baby and the words "Better use Durex" (condoms)...

Yet more proof that peace isn't desired, that they want to murder all who get in their way- obviously including pregnant women, they obviously want to have never-ending war, that they will stop at nothing short of absolute victory over the 'infidels' in their barbaric conquest, and tha----

Oh wait. That t-shirt's writing is in Hebrew, not Arabic................

Never mind.

I'm pretty sure if I saw someone in America walking around with that shirt on I'd be in jail for installing the latest version of My Foot, Your Ass on their harddrive.

I don't think you'll find too many people that agree with this type of disgusting display.

That's the kind of humor you get from soldiers in a war zone. To a lesser degree, you see the same thing in police and EMTs serving in rough areas.

It's the kind of idiotic **** that makes people act out and gives fodder to terrorists, same as haditha and abu ghraib. The best way that Israel can protect itself is by punishing the people responsible for this and making sure it doesn't happen again.

Punishing people for a tee shirt?

Oh, military personnel are wearing them. Yeah that should be punished.

Of course. This will be used by Hamas and every other terrorist group in order to "prove" to their people that Israel is trying to kill and rape and whatever. It's as bad in terms of the reaction it will provoke as flushing a Quran down the toilet.

If NYC was in the middle of a race riot and a video popped up on youtube of a cop making jokes about raping black women and killing their babies, the cop would be (rightly) punished.

edit: Didn't see your second post. Yea, if civilians want to wear them, they're idiots but that's their prerogative. This is a problem because it's soldiers.

It doesn't matter. Israeli supporters will continue to spin things to make Israel look like the good guys. I wish people would wake up and see the monstrosity on both sides of the coin. Both nations are engaged in an endless war based on arrogant ideologies. Israel just has more power.

This t-shirt is just a perfect example of the bilateral hate.

Everyone funnels their anger differently.

I am sure the IDF see the war a little different then all of us.

i don't agree with the murder of children, but i understand the shirt's meaning.

Absolutely correct. Warzones tend to warp the mind and rape the soul.

It sucks for sure but it is a fact of life.

Offensive or not ... it's free speech. We cannot punish them for speaking their mind.

That would be governing in the same way the Arab theocracies do.

They may exist somewhere, but I've never seen any Israelis wear such gear.

This thread reminds me of the crap Joe Hill used to put up about US Marines.

Of course, new coup for you and Joe Hill have much in common.

True, but military personal are not afforded all the same rights as civilians. I am sure wearing a shirt like this while on a US army post (even off duty) will result in some major problems.

Now, off post off duty perhaps.

I'm not sure how anything here is less legitimate than the "quran in toilet" stories or things like that. The Israeli army admitted that these exist, and says that it will be taking steps to prevent this from happening again. I don't see what's wrong with that.

On the contrary, such a shirt would be perfectly legal here.

During the first gulf war, there were stickers that showed Saddam's head in the crosshairs of a scope which read "I would fly 5000 miles to smoke a camel."

These were very common on Nellis AFB at that time.

I can guarantee you that if US soldiers in Iraq were caught wearing shirts that said "kill and rape all ragheads," there would be hell to pay.

I know for a fact that any shirt like that would not be permited.

People may wear them, but it is not permited.

I can see the difference between the t-shirt targeting Saddam himself and a t-shirt targeting a pregnant muslim in general. There's a difference between saying that NCFY loves the **** and all liberal males love the ****. (No offense NCFY, just using it as an example). Legally, it might be OK, but in the court of public opinion, there's a big difference.

There's a big difference between making silk-screen t-shirts, and strapping bombs around the waists of your children. But we're well aware that you are unable to fathom that.

Is there a big difference between apprehending terrorists and bombing the piss out of apartment complexes as well or is that something you're unable to fathom?
