A.I.G. executives face scorn, even at their homes

That and the fact that Dodd and Frank let it look like AIG just did this with no direction from the Congress. Did you see Frank whipping up a mob over the issue and the not even veiled threat that he would leak names to the public and Liddy better hand them over?

CouldnL almost anybody put a reasonable case together about who received a bonus through tax records? Yes Frank and crew are grandstanding but I also think they are doing their gig as best they can.

Doing the best they could would mean that when Dodd realized the mistake he had made, he fessed up instead of throwing executives and his own President under the bus.

Doing the best they could would mean that they kept Frank's asinine mouth shut instead of letting him make some drama queen speech about how he wanted to leak names of executives, who were only being paid according to the contracts already signed, to the public and the press.

He was inviting a mob to form up. But hey...most thinking people knew this was going to be the mess that it is back when we realized democrats were going to take power.

I think all of this is a part of their gig. Perception is reality and it is the gig of the politicians to work the perception it is the gig of people like Geithner and Bernake to say the perception is BS and take the hard knocks.

Sure you are...... This is a new excuse..... :2razz:

Yes I was posting from my phone. You should getting one of these G3 networked phones they are really cool. But my poor aging eyes can barely see anymore when type is that small. I bet in the near future they make a Jitterbug like phone for us older cyber punks.

If you are pointing your gun at Congress for the situation, then fine.
Yeah, let's point our finger at congress. Who deregulated the industry and who turned their heads while this was all happening? Republican congress in both cases? Hmmm...

If you are blaming people for acquiring individual wealth, you're barking up the wrong tree.
How about if we are blaming people who did what they did knowing it was wrong and then taking even more money after causing, not just AIG to fail but companies and economies world wide?

Government can only destroy wealth by their interventions. Screwing up the free market, and that is what they have done.
No, as history shows us, the "free market" doesn't exist, because every time a little bit of it is "freed up" there is massive greed and abuse.

AIG bonuses don't add up to peanut shells in the Grand Scheme.
I think fewer people are angry about the amount than the circumstance.

The US government has screwed the pooch by using banks as social programs. When you force banks to loan money to people to buy houses that should be renting... you've got a problem with time.
Right, blame everyone except the people responsible. How about blaming the banks, lending institutions and financial products gurus who saw the opportunity to game the system and make a ****load of money. The government didn't tell them to do that, the government said let's HELP lower income people get their families into homes so that they build some wealth and get out of poverty.

Communism took 60-years to implode... using banks as social welfare took far less to cause us grief.
WTF does communism have to do with this? Why do you righties just trot out words like communism, socialism, marxism, et al.

And NOW YOU KNOW... every time government says they want to "Help" you... you get screwed, and in the worst case scenarios... people die because of it.
No, every time the government trys to help you by letting the private sector get the benefit, you know you'll get screwed.

It happened in New Orleans as well.
People used to looking to government for the answer, for their Savior... died waiting for help... they were expecting from the state.
Isn't that the MAIN function of government? To protect it's citizens from harm? If that means helping them before or after a natural disaster... If you tell someone, wait here and the state will come get you, but then doesn't why do you blame the person who waited?

And people want government to handle their Health Care?!
:doh
Yeah, like all government employees including the military. Seems to be alright by them... except where we cut things out so that the private sector can make money on it, then it turns to ****.
