A.I.G. executives face scorn, even at their homes

Yes, I do, but in this case sorry I don't see it.

These idiots made death threats, that's on them and noone else.
otherwise you would have to hold the government responsible for EVERY riot that has occured do to it's decisions, the Iraq War, Bosnia, etc.

I don't hold accountable the government for people acting like idiots.

I just don't understand how you can possible think that the two are analogous.

They're both decisions that the government made that have cause riots using your logic.

I'm saying the idiots that are doing the death threats are to blame. PERIOD. The fact the hyper-partisan bunch is blaming the government is not only a sophomoric argument, but fails to put blame on the idiots doing the threats and puts it on the government. Talk about your idiotic statements coming from the anti-Obama crowd.

A. I did not make any statements about Obama. You fail.

B. I did not detract from blame being put on the ones who made the threats. You fail.

C. Political grandstanding and scapegoating that leaves families exposed to threats from the general public is worthy of scorn and contempt no matter what party did it. This time, it happens to be Frank and Dodd who are democrats. You fail.

Are you seriously trying to compare our current form of government to Nazi Germany?

Sometimes the most straight forward analogies can't make the point with our loyal opposition.

Are you telling me the Nazi's and their propaganda arm did not incite the citizenry?

That was the point.
Someone tried to make the point government was free of responsibility for fanning the flames, adding fuel to the fire, inciting the public.

Isn't the last bit what they intended to do?
Incite the public?

They went way too far.

Their pointed and senseless campaign of wanting these folks identified and vilified for political posturing is sick.

Especially since THEY VOTED to give these bonuses.

That makes it all especially twisted.

And these people are our elected representatives looking out for our best interests?

We are in huge, huge trouble.

PS. I hope you come under their wrath so you can feel the full impact these morons can unleash; the full weight of the Federal Government and their propagandists in the press.

PSPS. It's not a game; it's people's security, their lives, their families and friends.

This is a low point in American history.
We're living it.
Government targeting private individuals that received money approved from government.

It is sad.
America acting like a Banana Republic.

I feel sick.

One is a decision to demonize a particular group of people, call them names, claim that they destroyed the economy, cost millions of jobs, stole money out of people's pockets, etc. and then to publicize their names.

The other is a decision to take a military action overseas.

TOTALLY THE SAME THING.

No, not at all.

Here's a clearer analogy to the Dodd/Frank scapegoating:

My mom (the public) told my sister (AIG) she couldn't have any cookies (bonuses) until she cleaned up her room (the company). My brother (Dodd) gave her a cookie and when mom found out, I (Frank) inflamed my mother by stating what a thieving little layabout my sister is instead of just saying my brother gave it to her. Now my sister is fearful that mom is going to take action against her.

Who's fault is that?

As opposed to this clear analogy about the Iraq War...

My mom (the UN) told my sister (Saddam) that she couldn't have a cookie (WMD's). My sister told everyone she had a cookie hidden in her room. My Dad (the US government and several allies) went into her room and ransacked it looking for the cookie my sister claimed to have. I (some anti-war nuts) protested and rioted because we didn't want Dad in my sister's room looking for a cookie that may or may not be there.

See the difference? Probably not because partisanship has a way of blinding one to nuance and...well in your case, reality.

I feel sick.

I feel sick too - literally. It might be time for us conscientious individuals to leave. The question is where do we go?

Good I hope puke the hyper partisan rhetoric out of your system

It sounds like the Congressional Gestapo makes you feel all warm inside when you curl up to go to bed.

I guess I would have to suggest somewhere that the faint of heart who do not love America enough to stick out a fixable crisis would be welcome with open arms.

I think Canada has a history of accepting draft dodgers back during the vietnam war era. Start there.

I'm not alone. My grandfather had to flee Egypt after Nassr's nationalist uprising and I can't blame him for it. There's no reason to live in fear in your own country. Do you think these executives are just going to stay here and get slaughtered by a mob of ignorant people? We're getting dangerously close to the persecution against the "vampiric Jew." They're going to leave and then who's going to be left to run America's businesses? Barney Frank? Nancy Pelosi? Good luck with that.

If you have the money you can escape.
There are nations more than happy to take the wealthy or wealth creators and not punish them for it.

Amazing this discussion occurs about America.
A place to escape the punitive, intolerant, anti-American beast it has become.

But there is a line from Three Days of the Condor.
At the end Redford is advised to leave the US by an assasine who was after him.
The exchange:

Turner: I was born in the United States, Joubert. I miss it when I'm away too long.
Joubert: A pity.
Turner: I don't think so.

Amen

I'd fly The Stars and Stripes upside down, not as a sign of protest or disrespect, but in its nautical meaning... showing distress.

If a crew abandons a ship in distress to save their life, the last thing to do (if they have time to do so) is to turn the flag upside down. This means that they give up any right on the vessel or cargo and anybody who manages to rescue the ship afterwards could keep it.

We aren't about to go through some reign of terror. And if these execs leave, a fresh new batch of them will step in.

What we need is enough people to care enough to make sure that Pelosi, Frank, Dodd, and Reid all know at their next elections that we will not stand for this anymore and they are the ones who are fired.

There are a couple of core issues on the block here. The peoples anger is not "caused" by the government, it's caused by a combination of things, government actions are just part of it. People are losing their jobs while these AIG execs are being rewarded with taxpayer money for running their company into the ground. It's almost too unbelievable to be true. Anger, resentment, loathing...it's already there. What these dumb****s like Dodd and Frank are doing is exacerbating an already bad situation by lying and playing political games to cover their ass. Now we have the personal safety of some of these AIG douche bags in jeopardy because of another group of douche bags are fanning the flames. And Barney ****ing Frank should be impeached for his actions. As has been pointed out by others, when you mess up just say "hey, I messed up, I'll correct it, I'm sorry." Or better yet, just be upfront in the first place. The train is barreling down the tracks full speed and we have a group of idiots wearing conductor hats saying "I'm not touching the brakes because I didn't start the engine!"

This is the kind of **** that will make me vote third party.

And Zimmer, will you come back down to reality and stop with the Nazi bull****? Godwin's Law will kick your ass.

No wealth here... I just don't want my taxes paying for this crap. It's wrong.

Why don't they just put the bonus recipients in these so we can all spit at them and throw rotten vegetables:

There's a difference between being legally responsible and simply being responsible. Obviously, nothing that anyone in Congress did constitutes inciting to violence under the law. However, it's pretty obvious that a lot of people stirred up a lot of **** against these people for political reasons.

If someone ends up getting killed after a politician demonized them and then released their name to the public, I would certainly consider that politician to be at least partially responsible.
Well since no law was broken then... I think this is the argument your kin has used with regards to the Bush admin.

they created the bonus mess by writing a requirment to pay them into it then playing stupid about it.

AIG ran the company into the ground, dodd, and the obama admin, secured thier bonuses.

Wait who created the mess?

So you think the government should have broken the contracts then?

Do you understand that it's possible for more than one person to be responsible for something?

Obviously, the person doing the action bears the most responsibility. However, the person who made it possible for that person to act bears some responsibility as well.
It's called enabling isn't it? Is that anything like when our military or intel agencies torture someone? The Bush admin called it enhanced interrogation techniques...

But didn't those people do those things? Shouldn't they be stood up and shamed, at the VERY least?

And they were right on in doing so...

I'm looking at some property in BC. Sorry to slap you in your jingoism but I think Canada is a better country.

umm, you seem to be forgetting that it was the last eight... hell, the last 28 years of republican policies that brought us to this point. Not Frank or Pelosi. I understand why you'd want to forget that part.
