Too Predictable.
Sick.

What perverse leadership America has, and what perversions it is infecting the nation with.
Closer to The National Socialists than our Founders.

A.I.G. executives face scorn, even at their homes - International Herald Tribune
‘You have to understand,’’ he said, ‘‘there are kids involved. There have been death threats. ...’’ His voice trailed off. It looked as if he were fighting back tears.

‘‘I didn’t have anything to do with those credit problems...

Now these executives are toxic, and those communities are rattled and divided. Private security guards have been stationed outside their houses, and sometimes the local police drive by. A.I.G. employees at the company’s office tower in New York City were told to avoid leaving the building while a demonstration was going on outside. The memo also advised them to avoid displaying company-issued ID cards when they left the office and to abandon tote bags or other items with the A.I.G. logo.

What is worse is Congress pin points a few individuals.
Want to know their names and no guarantee of these remaining private.
They make these people out to be evil.
Pass an individual specific tax plan for them.
Gives them their version of Krystalnacht with the media acting like Der Stürmer (See below for definition).

May as well have these AIG employees walk around with yellow stars with AIG on them in big, black block letters sewn on their lapels, bumper stickers on their cars, and on the front door of their houses or apartments.

The only benefit in this chilling spectacle is business people may sprint from government.

These folks are at best two-faced Indian Givers.

Quote:
Der Stürmer (accurately, "The Attacker") was a weekly Nazi newspaper published by Julius Streicher from 1923 to the end of World War II in 1945... It was a significant part of the Nazi propaganda machinery and was vehemently anti-Semitic. Der Stürmer often ran obscene materials such as anti-Semitic caricatures and propaganda-like accusations of blood libel, pornography, anti-Catholic, anti-capitalist and anti-"reactionary" propaganda too, in order to appeal to a larger public of readers, especially among the lower class..

Yeah, yesterday one of the channels played telephone message death threats. I couldn't believe it. I thought that showed incredibly poor judgment. Just a 5 minute segment that was nothing but the playing of death threats and condemnation messages. Crazy. Don't remember what channel. It was either msnbc, fox, or cnn.

Hey I agree with you on this ;)

They don't deserve to have their lives threatened nor their families

This was entirely predictable.
100%
The way they went after these people to cover their own asses... was reminiscent of how the Nazi's first started treating Jews.

Scapegoat City.

The remainder is falling onto place.
Fear of safety for families.
Fear for personal safety.
Death threats.

That is the spirit of Change, Hope and Unity delivered.

I don't agree with the threatening of thi families one bit, but to blame it on the government is idiotic.

The government did not run AIG into the ground. The government did not give AIG the leadership that caused this. AIG came to the government with their hands out asking for TAXPAYERS money.

The government only brought to light what these guys were doing.

The people that are threatening these families are idiots as well, but then so are the ones blaming the government.

This is part government's fault. First off, they should have known that AIG was committing fraud, should have looked into it. Second, they should have had proper regulation and watch committees in place to prevent or inhibit the market from running on a suicide course; which is what was going on overall. The people participating knew it, but they were making money and being good capitalists about it. AIG specifically did some rather unsavory things and there should have been the oversight in place to catch it. AIG did commit fraud and did run their company improperly. I don't care if you run your company into the ground, but just take out yourself.

This was a failure of Wallstreet and Government...both were too corrupt and too inept.

Death threats are uncool but the people in the AIG division who created AIG's mess should be exposed and ridiculed.

What I see here is that the democrat controlled congress made a big mistake and they misdirected outcry to the executives of AIG. Now we have a serious public safety issue and families suffering severe crisis in the face of death threats.

But anyone who followed the situation and has half a brain would realize that it was key members of this congress who let it happen to start with. Namely, Dodd, who at first said "No I had nothing to do with the bonuses" and then turned around and said "But the president made me do it". He attempted to throw Obama under the bus because he is corrupt and takes no responsibility for his actions.

Instead of just admitting his mistake, he instead attempts, along with Frank, to start a mob against AIG. Franks comments that he would not promise that names of execs wouldn't get leaked were just deplorable. It amounted to extortion...the implication of "Give us back the money or we'll let the public handle you". He should have charges filed against him.

And the whole going back and rushing a tax bill after the fact...that's just foul and it's another example of how the democrats are disorganized, childish, and incapable of dealing with crisis. They lack professionalism, competence, and any sense of how to have power with rather than power over.

Don't forget that we shouldn't allow monopolies or companies "too large to fail" to exist.

Hold on sparky, who opened the gate in the first place? I'm talking about long before 2008.

Dear TheNextera,

Jallman laid it out about as concise as can be and deadly accurate.

I had a post ready, but Jallman did a better job.

The Dems knew it was in there.
Dodd wrote the legislation.
Dems pushed it through.

The lesson here is you cannot trust these people.
The brunt of our representatives are a bunch of untrustworthy thugs.

It's a dark, sick day for America, but a bright day for the Marxists.

Monopolies and oligopolies destroy the free market. If the goal is free market capitalism (which we haven't had in this country for quite some time...really sped up by Clinton; we've had corporate capitalism instead) then there has to be a small amount of government intervention to servo the system and place regulation into it to prevent free market stifling entities such as monopoly and oligopoly from existing.

Maybe we need a good dose of Theodore Roosevelt.

That is sick.
To the core.

Not Congress that created the legislation and voted for it?
Dodd?
Obama?
Geithner?
Frank?

Nooooooooooo... not the core of Der Stuermer.
****ing idiots.

This is why these places should live and die on their own.
NOTHING is too big to fail.
The USSR and its Evil Empire did.

These companies should be cannibalized.
If our lives suck because of it, future generations might learn.

Oh. My bad...I was under the impression that the topic of the thread was AIG execs getting threats from the general public. :doh

I just think it was crap judgment on the part of the media to air death threats. Since when do we air death threats? It's like fueling the fire. Reckless. Encourages mob mentality and expectation of a dramatic climax in this absurd witch hunt.

Does the media air Obama's death threats? Barney Franks' or Maxine Waters. Absolutely not and if they did there would be outrage.

Uhm Dodd, at the request of gheitner wrote in the protections of the bonuses.

Obama and the government are fully to blame.

all true except ghietner admitted they told dodd to do it.

Which is fine. Whatever. Dodd still needed to admit to what he had done instead of letting Barney Frank whip up a mob at the hearing. This is just shameful handling of the whole mess and I am going to reiterate: Frank should have charges brought against him for the very thinly veiled threat he made about the list of executives.

Also, the way they treated the CEO was beyond the pale. If I were him, I would have put a $1 down on the table and told them that they could accept returning my year's salary as my resignation. Have fun cleaning up the mess now, children.

The problem is you are blaming the government for AIG execs getting death threats. That is simply not true and that is what I was meaning by it's not the government's fault.

It's not the government's fault these guys are getting death threats.

Sure it is, who demanded the names? who contractually made it law they recieved them, who then pretended to be outraged?

It most certainly is the government's fault these guys are getting death threats!

Are you telling me that the mob Frank, Dodd, and Pelosi whipped up against these execs for accepting what was written into the bill, at the insistence of the government, is somehow their fault?

fixed :2wave:

the Democrats ****ing this up, which they most certainly did, doesn't mitigate how repulsive the AIG execs are.

I think it's time for (yet another) new Treasury Secretary, and if this **** continues possibly a new president but these AIG people should be put in camps.
