Selling sex legally in New Zealand

If you're concerned about sex slaves, human trafficing, and underage prostitutes, then enforce the laws concerning those elements. I don't see why that can't be done AND prostitution be legalized. Even where its illegal, the demand is still there. There is a reason its called the oldest profession.

women whose very flesh is treated like a commodity on the market.

Are physical laborers any different? Instead of attractiveness of their flesh, they sell the strength of their back and arms - often for low pay, bad working conditions, and exploitive employers. I know, I used to be one. So I know the answer - let's ban physcial labor!

LOL Yes, many people do have archaic views and disillusions such as yours on the matter. But eventually, people will come into the modern era and see the actual truth.

Yes because the "world's oldest profession" is sooooo avante guard.

A pig who sells her snatch for money is still a pig no matter how legal it is.

Who said either guy was married?

I didn't say they were married. I said they had sex outside of marriage, meaning they were not married to the person they screwed. That's the moral issue. So should we make one night stands illegal too? Since they are immoral.

The problem with the people against prostitution legalization is that they don't see the case with a pragmatic perspective:

Prostitution has always existed and will (has) not disappeared by interdiction. I even see a social benefit of prostitution: some people can be helped by seeing a prositute (I would bet it as more efficient than a psychanalyst ;) )

The only result of unlawfull prostitution is that it encourages criminal activities: maffia, bad treatment of the girls, even esclavagism. Look at the prohibition for example!

A carefully planned Legalization can diminish criminality I would guess. NZ example tends to show this. It would be interesting to see graphs of certain types of crime (rape, battered women, etc...) in this country and check if the tend to decrease.

How is one a pig by selling sex? It's just sex. I am constantly baffled by the absurd importance that people place on such an act. Obviously sex with someone you love means far more than sex with some guy that you just met. If men are willing to pay I see no problem with women exploiting that for their own benefit. I've yet to hear a sound argument against prostitution that doesn't involve moral views or paranoid assumptions.

I know! A ****tard who sells his muscles for money is still a ****tard no matter how legal it is. Oo! Oo! I got another one! A serving wench who sells her body to customers by waiting on them hand and foot is still a serving wench no matter how legal it is.

Oh wait! A low life idiot who sells his hands by flipping burgers is still a low life idiot no matter how legal it is.

Hmm... Oh! A jarhead who sells his life to the military is still a jarhead no matter how legal it is.

I do not think this way about prostitutes, I actually admire them for doing what they want and not caring about what certain people think of them.

:rofl:rofl:rofl

Yeah, they're really just making a statement rather than spreading their skank legs for Billy Bob the pervert with an extra 20 to jizz in their crust infested caverns. That's why so many of them have to be cracked up to do it. Because they're doing something admirable and not caring what those pesky pearl clutchers think.

It must take a special effort to be this obnoxious. I'm glad you're trying so hard.

Amusing! Archaic and disillusioned, but amusing nonetheless. My suggestion is to educate yourself on the topic instead of coming up with wild musings from la la land and presuming them to be reality. ;)

Whatever rivrat. If you wanna sell your lovely lady bits for 2 bucks, go for it. Just try not to get beaten & raped while doing so (of course that would never happen in such a respectable profession). I still have the right to look down on you for it. That's what makes the world a great place. Freedom to form opinions. I just won't use the toilet seat after you. :2wave:

Yeah well whores have been around since the dawning of time. If they were ever going to loose their stigma they probably would have by now. I imagine the problems with human trafficking and sex slaves aren't going to bring them around anytime soon.

Exactly what does that have to do with the topic? We get it. You don't like prostitutes. Anymore choice phrases to show how much you don't like prostitutes? Maybe some people have just arrived in this thread and don't realize your dislike yet.

Nah, people just looked the other way when it occured but finally the next generation is waking up and thinking a bit more in a pragmatic way.
No matter how much people preach morals, it will not prevent prostitution. What should be utmost importance is the females welfare.

Why should we sugarcoat and applaud what they;re doing while looking down on the rest of us who don't happen to think it's the best choice in the world? It is what it is. Last I checked, this was a board to discuss and exchange opinions. If you don't like my opinions, I suggest you skip to the next post.

What about women who just have sex with a lot of people safely and discreetly? I don't hear the same kind of vitriol against these women that I do for prostitutes. Is it because money is being exchanged that makes what they are doing disgusting?

Two bucks? Where the **** do you live? Guys didn't get to LOOK at me for $2. They couldn't even touch me for less than $400. My average trick paid me $600-800 And hell, as far as high class call girls go, I was inexpensive.

And when I was raped, it wasn't by a trick. It was by a friend, so really... not gonna get me with that bull**** either. As for getting beat up... I had a bodyguard available any time I wanted.

And, due to the fact that I had a lot of sex both personally and professionally, I'd be willing to guaran-damn-tee that I've been STD tested a ****load more times than the average woman has. I'm a safer bet than the average chick someone would pick up in a bar, that's for damn sure.

And yes, of course you have the right to "look down on me", just as I have the right to look down on you for willfully remaining ignorant on the subject at hand.

I'm not saying that you have to applaud what they are doing. And come on...who is looking down on who? Just look at your posts. It's obvious that you think you are superior to women who do this.

And as you were sharing your opinion I was sharing mine. I'm going to continue to share mine and if you don't like it I suggest you take some of your own advice.

The female welfare? Are you kidding? Nobody is talking about the sex slaves. Prostitution will always be around. However when you legalize it you create a higher demand. This has been shown to be true around the world. The demand increases at a faster pace then the supply does. Not many women will readily volunteer themselves up to whoredom. To feed the supply women and sometimes children are trafficked around the world.

You won't see me applauding any whores any day soon. Nor will I applaud their customers.

I am absolutely superior to women who do this and will be for as long as they continue to do so.

talloulou: I've asked this indirectly, but I'll ask it directly now. What is your standard or reason for wanting to ban prostitituion? And then I want to ask are you comfortable using that reasoning to ban other activities? So far you've listed a few ...

Morality: By this argument, depending on who's morality we go by, sex outside of marriage, lying, dancing with the opposite sex, vulgar language, immodest clothing, and numerous other things would be open to banning.

I don't want my children doing it: Again, many things would be eligible to be banned under this standard. Vulgarity, promiscuity, lying, alcoholism, pornography, appearing on Jerry Springer - they would all be criminal acts.

Poor working conditions for the prostitutes themsevles: Non-union physical laborers often have very poor working conditions. Fast food or low end service workers have pretty lousy jobs with little pay or benefits as well. Should these be banned as well?

Side affects (i.e. sex slaves, human trafficing, ect.): Landscapers are notorious for hiring illegal aliens. Should we ban the landscaping profession because it contributes to illegal immigration?

I'm curious if you're comfortable with any of these reasonings being the basis for determining if an activity should be legal. If not, are you willing to admit that you're just drawing an arbitrary line on prostitution based on your own preferences?

Prostitutes are yucky! Ewwwwww! Gross! Prostitutes....ick! It's like...ewww!

There is already a demand and i view it as another business. Why do i care and why is it my business what a female does with her body?

My only concern is the STD and safety aspect and that can easily be remedied with it being decriminalised and monitored.

I have respect for them doing what they do, if they enjoy it. Good for them.

Like there is any difference between walking the street and being a porn star. Still paid to have sex yet one is acceptable

Yes. It is about the money. When you turn the human body into a commodity you cheapen it and invite exploitation. There's a difference between being a man who lucks upon a woman who is happy to have sex with him within 10 minutes of their meeting vs the men who fuel a prostitute economy with a high demand that leads to human trafficking and the men don't even seem to know or care if the women they are paying for sex around the world are voluntary whores or sex slaves.

By keeping prostitution illegal and driving it underground you are in effect encouraging human trafficking. Why would you do such a thing?

Everyone's body is a commodity. We ALL work for a living. We ALL sell the services of our bodies and minds.
