Sony workers in France took executives hostage, and held them until they were convinced by regional authorities to let them go, and continue negotiations between the workers and the company at a location away from the manufacturing plant. The plant, and another one, are being shut down, and the employees let go.

You know, in the United States, kidnapping is a crime. Seems that, in France, it is something to surrender over. Yea, I know, I know, but I just couldn't help getting yet another one of my well-known tacky French surrender gags into this thread. Or maybe it's not a gag at all, but an honest comment on the French government.

Article is here.

I wonder if the sony Execs are going to press charges and are the French police going to do anything to the kidnappers?

The thing for Sony to do is shut down operations at the offending location(s) and lay all the employees off. Offer to reopen the plant only after the French govt has prosecuted the offenders...

If France isn't willing to protect the people running the facilities in France, then those facilities should be closed up.

Every operation Sony runs in France should be closed by now.

If I read the story correctly they are already closing the plant.

Yea, according to Utah Bill, the guys at Sony are mind readers. LOL.

French workers have a long held habit of total ignorance of the Law.
Frequently they set up illegal roadblocks when posturing for something or other.

I have my doubts they will be prosecuted mainly because the prosecutors have a tendency to agree with the workers actions.
