Office of the Chief Technology Officer employee and contractor have been arrested in a federal bribery sting, sources tell WTOP.

D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer employee Yusuf Acar and Advanced Integrated Technologies Corporation President and CEO Sushil Bansal have been arrested, sources tell WTOP.

Acar, 40, was taken into custody Thursday morning by FBI agents at his home in Northwest D.C.

Bansal has received multiple contracts from the D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Office, including contracts to develop Web-enabled applications and IT and anti-spyware support.

The FBI is now serving a search warrant at the office of D.C.'s Chief Technology Officer, WTOP has learned.

"We are there as part of a continuing ongoing criminal investigation," FBI Washington Field Office spokesperson Katherine Schweit tells WTOP.

Schweit would not comment on the details of the investigation.

John McCain was slammed for picking Sarah Palin, a successful and popular Governor as his VP pick, vetting problems were cited.

Where are those same people to slam Obama. Tax cheats, and now criminal probes with arrests... Wonder how high this goes in that office. Will it reach to the nominee?

Bush and Cheney were blamed for Abu-Garib, because "they were in charge" so obviously we must assume the DC CTO is guilty as well.

Change we can believe in! Tax evaders in high office, criminal investigations and the spending of tax payer money like there was no tomorrow. Feels like Chicago (like home) already doesn't it? :rofl

I, for one, feel better knowing the rest of the country will now be as screwed up as my hometown. 'bout time! You bastards have had it too easy!

Just don't force that crappy Chicago style pizza on us:2razz:

NYC has the best pie:mrgreen:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The FBI raided the former office of Obama administration official Vivek Kundra in a corruption probe on Thursday but Kundra is not a target of the investigation, a spokeswoman for Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty said.
Obama official not a target in FBI raid: spokesperson

Kundra is not the target, interesting.

Can you please show us which people were charged and convicted of Tax Evasion please? As for the spending, many conservatives and Republicans didn't seem to mind the excess spending and in fact voted Bush again in 2004 knowing full well he wasn't going to slow down. Kinda seems hypocritical there don't you think?

None of that applies to Obama. Have you not seen the Obama news coverage news in the last 2.5 years?

So you think that tax evaders have to be charged and convicted in order to be called tax evaders? Interesting concept you have there.

Here's the list:

Nancy Killefer (Chief Performance Officer nominee), Tom Daschle (Health and Human Service nominee) and Timothy Geithner (Treasury Secretary).

Obama can't find top Democrats as nominees who can pay their taxes on time? No wonder Democrats are fine with increasing taxes on everyone, they don't pay themselves and then expect everyone to forgive them for their "mistakes."

Fascinating that you think that spending the Government into a deficit due to 9-11, fighting two wars and dealing with the disaster of Hurricane Katrina is anything similar to the reckless spending we are now seeing from Democrats.

Here are a few facts; when Republicans lost Congress the deficit was falling and was about $215 billion. Since the Democrats hold of the purse strings the deficit has ballooned to $1.7 trillion and climbing.

Now tell me what is similar about the two? The HYPOCRISY you seem confused about is the blatant hypocrisy from Liberals and Democrats who desperately point at Bush and complained about his deficits but now rabidly defend the astounding amounts of deficits we see and then claim in defense that Bush did it too.

Let’s do some math; $1.7 trillion divided by $215 billion is a 790% increase in deficit spending.

Good lord, are you really this deep in denial?

Tax evasion is legal, like murder is. So yes, to be called a tax evader or murder you would have to be charged and convicted, otherwise it's just throwing out slander.

You're kidding right? Take a look at all the pork bills that were signed and the money wasted. Hell we had millions LOST in Iraq and unaccounted for.

The fact that the Dems are spending more doesn't excuse the irresponsible spending under the Bush Administration does it?

You seem to think because the Dems spend more, it was ok for the irresponsible spending of the Republicans. That is denial.

Amounts aside, Republicans did irresponsible spending overseas, while the Dems now are doing irresponsible spending at home.

No matter where it is going, it is IRRESPONSIBLE. Neither side is clean. That is the truth.

And it's a virtual certainty that the two people they arrested were hired during the Bush administration.

It's getting to be a leading Republican feature: blaming the Democrats for their own crimes....

You partisan hack, who runs DC?

Here's a hint, it ain't the GOP.

So would you prefer the term tax CHEAT?

Bush is no longer the President. Get with the program. What happened in the Bush administration is hardly a defense for what is happening now is it?

You’re the one who keeps brining up Bush as if this somehow excuses Obama and the Democrats who have increased deficit spending by over 700%.

I want to address this separate:

Amounts aside, Republicans did irresponsible spending overseas, while the Dems now are doing irresponsible spending at home.

This argument is absurd. Republicans passed spending legislation that BOTH parties in the majority supported. They also spent money on TWO wars that a majority of BOTH parties supported.

You can suggest that it is irresponsible, but that is pure partisan OPINION on your part but cannot be substituted for a coherent intellectually honest argument.

Billions were spent post 9-11 including tax cuts that helped get the economy back on it’s feet after this devastating attack. Billions were spent in the wake of the catastrophe of Hurricane Katrina.

Your desperate attempts to suggest that a $215 billion deficit that was in decline is even remotely at the level of irresponsible spending since Democrats took over defies logic and requires the willing suspension of disbelief.

Carry on.

Much of that trillion there cannot be accounted for anymore. Poof! Gone.

What happened to all that toxic debt it was supposed to buy up? Guess what? Paulson went into a press conference (after the fact)and said they changed their minds. Banks expanded by buying up smaller banks instead. Look at the money trail. The current president is a puppet of the bankers just like every one since JFK. It all points to the banks. Why would you give someone money so they can loan it back to you on interest? Ridiculous. We are being eaten alive by special interest groups and lobbyists. Was there not there a campaign pledge somewhere about no more lobbyists??

To clarify, because the news stories aren't very explicit on this point:

Obama appointed this guy Kundra to be the US Government's Chief Information Officer. That is not the office involved in this raid. The office involved in this raid is the "D.C. Office of the Chief Technology Officer." Kundra was previously the Chief Technology Officer.

The people arrested were part of D.C. government, so the odds that they were Republican appointments is basically nil.

Further, simply because people in this guy's office were arrested doesn't necessarily mean anything about this guy. Let's let it play out and see the rest of the details first.

Why is it interesting? The two guys were arrested on corruption charges. The only reason this is even news is because it's "close" to Kundra. Manufacturing drama.

I thought that was how things worked... 8 years of manufactured drama... what suddenly it's not okay? 8 years, suddenly cause it's your guy in office we gotta suddenly not blow things out of proportion?

The hells is up with that eh?

How many Obama appointees have issues? There's a TREND here, and thus when there is an FBI raid of some office that is associated with a recent Obama pick...

Gee isn't reasonable to assume there is something going down?

Just because it was done in the past doesn't make it right. It was stupid then it is stupid now. It's akin to people and their Sarah Palin daughters baby daddy stories. It's not news unless it's convenient for slamming.

This isn't even remotely connected to Obama but his name is prominent in the headline.
