10 shot, killed in south Ala. towns; shooter dead

You are a liar. It is being reported that 2 of the weapons were assault rifles. You are a liar. LIAR!!
I guarantee you that NONE of the weapons used were assault rifles.
Therefore, you have lied.

Dont agree?
Specify what assault rifles were used.

It is an unfortunate situation for sure. If one of those people had chosen to responsibly carry, it could have been prevented. Instead they relied on the cops for protection; and cops can't instantaneously beam themselves to the troubled spots (not sure I'd like them to have that ability either), plus they don't have to help you out. I feel bad for the victims, but I hope this doesn't fuel another "let's ban all guns" crap thing because being unarmed is well more dangerous than the occasional psycho.

Probably too dim to understand that an assault rifle is a machine gun

Isnt amazing how those that are most against guns are those that know the least about them?

This was really close to where I live, Samson is right on the Florida Alabama border, this is some sad stuff.

I wish you guys would stop arguing over gun legislation, that has nothing to do with this story.

If guns were outlawed he could just as easily buy an illegal gun on the black market, which most of guns in the united states are.

Over 70% of guns owned in the US are done so illegally by criminals.

Legal guns decrease crime, because when people are armed in there homes criminals are less likely to rob and the like. Home invasion spiked right after UK banned firearm sale.

Nobody is arguing guns are bad, but the fact is we have to deal with this and not act to hastily.

Yeah, it's pretty sad that in Alabama of all places, people were sitting around watcing the shooting and not one neighbor either had access to a gun or was willing to get it, if they had one.

My old man had an M1 rifle and I can assure you he'd have dragged it out and shot that SOB if he had a clear field of fire and a good backstop.

Not at all...in fact its quite logical. Gun fanatics would obviously know the most about guns because it is their hobby. They are also the ones most likely to oppose any kind of restriction, reasonable or otherwise.

I believe everyone should own a handgun and know how to use it. I think anything bigger and not single-shot shouldn't be in the hands of the public. Does that make me a gun-nut or an anti-gun nut?

The only reasonable restrictions are those putting extra penalties in ex-felons for using them illegally.

No restrictions on type or quantity of weapons owned by an individual are permitted by the Second Amendment, nor would such restrictions be considerable reasonable by an objective person, such as me.

Anti-gun nut.

You're saying everyone should be required to own a dueling pistol, and not allowed anything else, if I'm interpreting your "in the hands of the public" correctly.

All that is is banning the legal sale of the guns, people can still get a hold of automatic weapons, just not through legal mean.

hoplophobes, tend to argue for restrictions on things they are ignorant of. they are the ones who support restrictions on things that are never reasonable.

Whch is quite natural, given that they understand the subject far better than those that look to impose restrictions on the law abiding.

Glad to see that you agree that the anti-gun crowd argues from a position of ignorance.

On the surface, it makes you irrational.
Why do you hold those positions?

Anti-gun nut.

"Should" doesn't equal "required". I'm cool with handguns, shotguns, sniper rifles, bb guns, and Super Soakers, but I don't see what anyone who isn't actively fighting a war in another country needs to be firing a semi-automatic weapon for. Same with machine guns and grenades. You don't hunt deer with an AK-47, you don't scare off muggers with a weapon too large to conceal, and generally a clipfrom a pistol should be enough to deal with an assailant; that is, unless you're a really terrible shot. My greatest terrorism-related fear involves someone purchasing a semi-automatic or full automatic weapon, carrying it into a major city in an instrument case or something, and opening fire in the middle of Times Square/a crowded theater/a sporting stadium.

What the hell is going on in this country?

Is it just me or is there an awful lot of gun play going on in this country?

....

It's the culture of guns.

From what I see, the "gun crowd" does everything from a position of ignorance.
What arguments sound like ignorance?

What that law abiding citizens with guns actually decrease crimes?

I can repost my graphs showing how that is the case, do you want to see them?

NYPD hit rate in a gun fight is 13%.

You were saying? :2wave:

If there's even been a more meaninlgess assertion that yours, above, I've not seen it.

There's no doubt, whatosever, that virtually ALL of the pro-gun people on this board know more about the subject than YOU.

Knowing how to field clean an AR15, or what ammo works in a Bushmaster, does not qualify you as an expert on weapons legislation.
