A gunman shot a pastor during a church service in Illinois, then stabbed himself, along with 2 other parishioners, after his gun jammed.

This could have been a lot worse, but shooting a pastor is a pretty sick thing to do. An associate pastor is hoping the gunman recovers so that he will have a chance to find the lord. Now I am impressed. No talk of revenge, only love. This is a church that really practices what they preach, and one that I would like to attend if I lived in the area. My condolences to family of the pastor. His reward, IMHO, will be a good one.

That's insane.

I'm not so sure that they should expect the gunman will "find the lord" if he recovers.

You never know. Before Paul became Paul, he was Saul, and was responsible for the persecutions and murders of many Christians.

Coming from a faith that is big on forgiveness, I respect the attitude of the associate pastor. What the gunman did was sick and twisted. The attitude of the associate pastor is very Christian. If everyone lived by the tenets of the Christian faith, the world would be a much better place.

I know somebody who's going to be recieving "The Little Nicky Pineapple Treatment" in a few years or so.

It's not just clergy that can show a strong ability to forgive, so can naturalized Korean Immigrants.

A Korean immigrant who lost his wife, two children and mother-in-law when a Marine Corps jet slammed into the family’s house said Tuesday he did not blame the pilot, who ejected and survived.

“Please pray for him not to suffer from this accident,” a distraught Dong Yun Yoon told reporters gathered near the site of Monday’s crash of an F/A-18D jet in San Diego’s University City community.

“He is one of our treasures for the country,” Yoon said in accented English punctuated by long pauses while he tried to maintain his composure.

“I don’t blame him. I don’t have any hard feelings. I know he did everything he could,” said Yoon, flanked by members of San Diego’s Korean community, relatives and members from the family’s church.

While the shooter in the OP's story was with bad intention, Yoon was not subject to creating false blames.. or any hateful blames.

I hope the only thing the shooter finds is a jail cell for the rest of his life. Then he can brush up on the bible to his heart's content, away from the rest of society.

I'd be curious to know why he did it.

Police at every chuch door. That will be policy if President Obanana has his way.
