BROADWAY CARS CAN TAKE A WALK

BLOOMBERG'S PLAN TO TURN BROADWAY INTO A PEDESTRIAN MALL - New York Post.

The Great White Way will turn into a great walkway.

In a stunning Midtown makeover, Mayor Bloomberg announced today that traffic lanes along Broadway from 42nd to 47th streets and from 33rd to 35th streets will be torn up starting Memorial Day and transformed into pedestrian plazas until at least the end of the year.

As far as I am concerned they should wall off that section of the city, it already is a mall full of chains and overpriced crap sold to tourists from kentucky......

that would be you?

nah, my momses frowned upon that....

I didn't mind the bums and all but it kinda ticked me off when they would say " Dude can you spare some change for a nickle bag"

Sheeesh by some food, soap or whatever not more dope.

Gotta love the honesty.....

you have to see the area now.... you wouldn't recognize it.

I appreciate that more than a guy asking for money to buy a sandwhich then running into the store and getting a 40.

I use to work for a food photographer @ Broadway and Houstan. We always had extra food and I would give it to the bums in the subway.

Cut this **** out.

Yeah I hear it is a whole different ball game now.

tompkins square park - Google Maps

It's not "Rent" anymore, but that area hasn't gotten too overdeveloped yet.

 what you mean a 40 aint a sammich?

beer is liquid bread

I used to work at broadway and prince. small world

Usually when you hear someone talking about the location as their work as a street intersection, it involves fish nets and pleather boots. I'm just sayin. :2razz:

It certianly made for some interesting sights

speaking as someone who lives in a city that's still hurting, urban edge can be overrated

although it does keep the rents low and the midwesterners out

so it's not all bad

hmmm would I rather be mugged or see someone wearing white sneakers and an American flag t-shirt

I'll have to think about it

Better than the panhandlers in Boulder. Every once in awhile you'll see a kid on a cell phone panhandling for change then getting up and taking off in his SUV. There are actual homeless in Boulder, but it's also full of those damned trustafarians. Drive around in high priced cars with a bumpersticker that says "Live simply".

God I hate Boulder.

I'll take the mugging:
