So when people protested Bush and bash him, they were being disrespectful to the president and un-american. But when Obama gets bashed, it's courageous. Got it!
Gosh darn it, I just can't keep up with all these double standards and I so want to be part of the in-crowd here.....
I personally never questioned people's right to bash or question any president... I did my share with both Clinton and Bush. I never understood the sheer hate that so many liberals showed for Bush, even though he acted like a liberal so often with excessive spending bills like Medicare Part B and a few other spend-a-thons! I do understand the disappointment that many conservatives showed that often bordered on hate. Unlike liberals and many moderates, I did not have a problem with his actions in Iraq and his general handling of post-911 security issues. I feel pretty confident that anyone could have stuck a "Bush, Go To Hell" bumper sticker on their car in recent years with no concern for personal safety or retribution. If you think that remains the case with Obama, you're smokin' some strong stuff. Many of those who support Obama are so irrationally passionate about him that I would expect violence to be in order for those who openly disrespect their guy. I don't believe that the crowd cited in this thread was disrespectful to the office of president - they were openly against the actions of the man who presently inhabits that office. I concur with their sentiments!
