President Obama is planning a Stevie Wonder concert, in which he plans to award him with a Library of Congress award.

While I would not normally be against something like this, I am at this time, and here is why:

1) The economy is not good, and of course, money is being spent to put on this event.

2) This is the same Obama who has ordered the heads of companies to limit their salaries.

3) This is also the same Obama who has railed against the excessive use of bailout funds by companies for entertainment.

Put all 3 of these points together, and I don't see how Obama can put on a lavish concert without giving an appearance of condoning the waste of our taxpayer dollars by AIG and other interests. I mean, come on, folks. Shouldn't Obama be setting an example for the rest of us? He is president, after all. If he sets one standard for some, without holding himself to the same standard, he stands out like a big hypocrite.

As our leader, Obama must set an example for the rest of us, and practice what he preaches. Who agrees or disagrees with me on this, and why? I would like to hear some opinions. NOTE: Please do not use this thread as a sounding board to say that "Obama is a poopie head", or other such blather. I would like some real and honest opinions on this issue. Thanx.

Why are they doing this in the first place?

Since when does the government award private persons for private interests.

I don't care if the economy is in good shape or bad it is stupid to throw tax money at things like this.

Bread and circus's. Enjoy them.

Doubt its going to be a huge burden on American society. Get over it.

I see your point danarhea. The govt. isn't looking for a bailout. That's the difference I guess.

As long as I have breath in my body, I promise that Stevie Wonder never sees that award!

I thought Ferris Beuller donated his eyes to him.

SO Wonders getting an award for smooching Obama butt?
That is what the article says.. if just with more words.

Article makes clear there is no legitimate reason for him to be given any award. This is like Al Gore getting the Nobel Prize, or Michale Moore and Oscar for a *Documentary*. It sullies the status of the award.

Do as they say, not as they do.
