Mayor: Obama should apologize for Vegas trips quip

Sin City's mayor wants President Barack Obama to apologize for saying companies shouldn't visit Las Vegas on the taxpayer's dime.

That is a joke right?

If the money is being used to hold nationwide conferences that help the company, then that is fine. Central meeting points are needed in those situations and are business related.

The money should not be used, however, for entertainment purposes.

This is all typical liberal "symbolism over substance".

If not Vegas, then some other city that can support conferences will get the business - that's ok?

Vegas is a hotspot for conferences - I've been there on several occasions to attend them. It would be one thing if taxpayer monies were being used for pleasure - that would apply to any city holding a taxpayer funded conference, but the fact that it's "Vegas" makes it cannon fodder for a completely baseless comment for the sake of pandering.

I agree 100%.

Once again, Obama's ignorance alienates.

Right, and next Obama should apologize to the automotive accessories manufactures when he tells wallstreet not to buy rimjobs on the the taxpayer dime.

With about 1 million better criticisms of Obama, there is really no excuse sinking to a level this pathetic.

He needs to apologize to private jet charter companies, too. And the NFL! this is a goddamn travesty!

Do you ever provide an opinion without slamming liberals?

I am NOT a fan of either Obama nor Obamaidiocies.
But after reading this, I believe the mayor needs to understand the realities of what Federal funding is supposed to be spent on.
Comments?

Vegas is gambling capital of the country hell not our tax money shouldn't be spend in Vegas. I do not give a **** if they have conference rooms or not,so do other cities across the country. The mayor should shut his trap.

When most people think if Vegas do they really think of?

Or do most people think of this when they think of Vegas?

I think the reason why Vegas is a hotspot for conferences is the recreational activities after they leave the conference rooms.

I think of this:

And that one time I drank five bottles of Jameson's, I unfortunately thought of this:

You can go here, don;t do this, room temperatures can't be that high, ugh... and you can't drive everywhere you want... inflate your tires, don;t listen to that radio announcer... and on and on rants Mommy Dearest.

Perhaps Reid would like to correct his "Obama is bright" comment one more time.

President Obama Again Criticizes Trips to Las Vegas

The president's comments come nearly a year after he criticized companies that received federal money for taking corporate junkets to Las Vegas. "You can't go take that trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on taxpayers' dime," he said at the time. Local business leaders say Nevada tourism suffered last year in part because companies canceled trips to Las Vegas in the wake of the president's comments.

His statement Tuesday drew sharp criticism from Nevada lawmakers. "The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn't be spending their money," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat. "Las Vegas is suffering through one of the highest unemployment rates in the country, and we cannot afford for the President to bring us down any further," added Republican Senator John Ensign. "Nevada has one of the most distressed economies in the country, and the President has done little to focus on job creation over the past year. Discouraging people from coming to our state to make a political point adds insult to injury," said Republican Congressman Dean Heller.

An easy solution to the whole problem.

Government agencies should have conferences only in cities in which they are headquartered, or wherever it is cheapest to get the people together who need to meet. Generally, teleconferencing should be the preferred mode.

Private companies can have conferences wherever they damn well please, and the government should not meddle in private business affairs, not by "lending money", "bailing out", or regulating to any degree outside the barest minimum to ensure public safety is not threatened.

However, the Big Mouthed Messiah in DC is sure doing his best for the re-election of Hairy Reid, isn't he?
