Everyone knows the UN is all bark.
This will take time. How do you propose they bite?:rofl
How do you propose they bite?
This will take time.
We must learn patience
We must clean our own house before worrying about China....from whom we can learn a lot..
Amazing that they don't have their paid spammers on here like they do on other sites on the web.
If you are really interested I can show you how that does not mean jack... The site can resolve, the site can be pinged, the site can be trace routed, however the content can still be blocked.
This is a test from one of there servers in china is my guess, the company could be exempt as many foreign companies are.
in otherwords this proves little actually.
The site appears to actually request the page and not just ping the server. The size of the response is very similar, and almost identical to the result I got when testing with wget (72363 bytes), which gives me the front page. The Chinese firewall blocks by IP, so if the front page is available the entire site should be. I don't know anything about exemptions, so it could very well be that this company gets special treatment. It would be pretty stupid for the company to do that, though, because they could just forward the request to any random Chinese person's home PC and get perfectly accurate test results.
I just don't think we're on the Chinese government's radar. The internet is a big place and the .cn TLD is the second biggest (after .com of course). If we start getting Chinese members I wouldn't be surprised if we got blocked, but with little or no traffic going to China I doubt the censors have ever wandered to our corner of the web.
Can you tell me a little more on this and their purpose?
Ahh yes the usual bull**** I hate China speech. What can we learn from China? How to arrest peaceful people and put them in jail because of what they believe in? Can we learn how to invade neighboring countries and incorporating them into ours at the point of a gun? Can we learn from them how to threaten other neighboring countries to join them, or else? Can we learn from them how to support some of the most despicable states in the world including DPRK, Burma, Sudan, and Zimbabwe - among many others.
They've attacked foreign nations just for the hell of it now? If you want to just focus on the bad go right ahead, but at least be equal and honest in your assessments.ludahai said:If you are referring to CULTURE, no argument. But their internal politics and international relations is NOT something ANYONE should strive to emulate.
That is utterly baseless bull****.BUT, if anyone posts from there, they need to tow the party line or else they risk detention like a myriad of other cyber dissidents in the country.
Right, because of course, it's impossible for Chinese citizens to love their country, if they post anything that's pro-china it has to be because they are either spammers or have been brainwashed or are under survelience.I have seen several sites that I do not frequent anymore where pro-China spammers continually spread their pro-China propoganda. Some were banned for being obvious propoganda agents. Unfortunately, I don't have any details because I was not an admin on any of those sites.
DP and most personal public web forums really aren't on the radar of anyone.I just don't think we're on the Chinese government's radar. The internet is a big place and the .cn TLD is the second biggest (after .com of course). If we start getting Chinese members I wouldn't be surprised if we got blocked, but with little or no traffic going to China I doubt the censors have ever wandered to our corner of the web.
Hmmm, Orius?I know the IPs of every DP member.
I can't think of even one who regularly posts from mainland China.
Very strange for such an "open country" with a billion people.
http://www.debatepolitics.com/1057916406-post7.htmlI live in Nanjing, China (though I'm currently in SE Asia) where I study full time. I have no problem accessing DP, ever.
Most people don't understand the Chinese firewall because they have been fed a lot of propaganda in foreign countries. The purpose of internet monitoring in China is to monitor the CHINESE. They could give a toss what the foreigners do. They don't even check foreigners' bags at the airport. You can download porn, movies, rip mp3s, even post to a politics site in English that bashes the Chinese government. They do not care. Given the amount of anti-PRC rhetoric spewed on here by the die hards, this site would be censored immediately if the Chinese government even gave a damn. They don't.
The reason why barely any Chinese people post here is because it is an English site and the level of English used here is very advanced. People in China can also access the New York Times and a lot of Western papers via the net, but do you think most do? No. They're in English.
The Chinese gov. monitors things that are a threat... and DP is not.

You're just brainwashed by Chinese propaganda or under duress.
