Owners of Foreclosed Homes Steal Appliances, Leave Houses in Disarray

There was a lot of talk about a 120 day moratorium on evictions. I guess that never happened.

It's probably best that people stay in their homes and pay what they can. And why evict anybody if you don't have someone ready to move in. Isn't it better to get some money on a loan rather than no money?

I remember prior to getting elected Obama was saying that banks that partake in the bailout should put a moratorium on evictions. I think he suggested at least 90 days.

But the key word there was SHOULD and not MUST or OBLIGATED or anything that means anything. Should is a suggestion, easily ignored. Though if he were serious and congress was serious they could have wrote that stuff into the bailout contracts.

If they couldn't pay the fully-ammortized payment (PITI) form day one, and they chose to buy the place anyway, they have nobody to blame but themselves. Every mortgage note states what you will have to pay after a certain time. If they didn't read the note, they are fools.

Simplle rule of thumb. You can only afford a home that values at 2.5 times your yearly household income.

If someone only makes 2K a month (24k a year), they damned well knew they could't afford a $400,000 home the moment they decided they wanted it.

I have no pity for these fools even if they got stated loans. Only a complete retard would think their 24K per year means they should own a 400K home.

I completely agree. These people dug themselves into their financial hole.

There needs to be regulations put into place so those that can afford to not loose their home with a little creative help can keep it so that I, someone who responsibly bought, am not seeing a loss in value of my home due to a bunch of idiots that can't afford the houses they happen to buy in my neighborhood.

We agree on this, but their should also be some form of penalty given to the person who is getting assistance. They shouldn't be assisted and have no ramifications whatsoever for their idiocy. But of course, their idiocy should not be a detriment to responsible homeowners, who are the only real victims in this whole thing.

I have no pity for the banker that would make a loan like that.

A lot of times the banker had no choice but to make the loan. Our government was either mandating that banks abide by laxer lending standards or actively removing market barriers from obtaining a loan by subsidizing down payments and closing costs for low-income, first-time homeowners.

Not only that, but the government removed any pecuniary incentive for the banks not to make bad loans because of the implicit agreement that they would be bailed out should they fail.

Government intervention has its finger prints all over this debacle, yet people are somehow able to spin it around on the “free market”. What's their remedy to this economic ailment of ours? Why, more poison of course...

Yes. I would just want it made sure that whatever the ramifications are for the individual don't have an negative effect on the rest of home owners.

How about they get to keep the house, but I come over every once in a while and **** in their mailbox?

Works for me!

I would like to do that to some of my neighbors. You can obviously see the people on the brink of foreclosure because their yards are still only dirt. They have done zero landscaping or other upgrades. It brings down the quality of the neighborhood.

I hear ya. And I bet about half have Beemers and Caddy's in the driveway, too. The guy across the hall from me owned an Escolade. It never seems to occur to some people that if they owned a cheaper car they might still have a home.

Feakin' people amaze me sometimes.

This is sad. Some are obviously stripping the house to sell stuff for whatever cash they can get but some are just angrily destroying stuff bringing down the value of all the houses in their neighborhood as they leave theirs in shambles.

I though Obama was fixing it so homeowners weren't booted out?

The woman in front of me at the grocery store last week, who had 3 kids with her, paid for her grocery with foodstamps (or some other type of welfare food voucher). We happened to be parked next to each other in parking lot as well and she drove off in a 2007 BMW 525.

How does someone who uses foodstamps afford a $50K+ car? I assume she also lives in the area which consists of houses that go for $500k+.

I'm right there with ya Tucker. Same type of BS happening to my dad.

For instance, one of my relatives has been roughly three to four months delinquent on their mortgage payments, as such, they qualified for a $100,000 deduction off their principal while their interest rate was lowered and fixed at five percent. This relative has never really had any terrible misfortune befall him or his family that would cause him financial ruin. They were relatively well off for as long as I have known them, except they failed, excuse me, refused to live within their means, hence the delinquent payments.

My dad, on the other hand, has always made his mortgage payments on time and without fail. He busts his ass almost all day, every day to make sure his family is able to maintain its standard of living. Lately, due to the rough patch in the economy, things have gotten tighter for him and he's had to work even harder, and, because of pending regulations on the appraisal market the future of his business is questionable. About eight to ten people are under his employ at a given time and they all make roughly fifty to sixty thousand dollars a year; many of them have families.

My dad came from a blue collar family and he worked terribly hard to make good grades in both high school and college. After graduating from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) with honors, he took a risk and started his own business which became successful, and because of his success he falls into the tax bracket so often demonized by liberal cry-babies who think he doesn't really need a tax break.

So, basically, my dad, who has always done the right thing and worked hard in order to provide his family with a little extra - that little extra he never had as a kid - is straining to make ends meet, and the business he started over nineteen years ago is facing a questionable future because the government may enact regulations which would essentially put him out of business. Not only that but the tax break he received will most likely be taken away from him so that some lazy f*cking scrub ass bum who doesn't give a sh*t about anyone but themselves can go buy another months worth of McDonald's and beer.

The moral of the story: If you succeed in life Democrats will just take your money, give it to someone less deserving than you, and ruin your business with crippling regulations in order to make things "fair". There's a reason why some people hate liberals so much, can't say I blame them either.

This country is so f*cked...

my father would refer to that as Nigger rich
nice car, decent house, but lawn furniture inside and always living paycheck to paycheck

however it is not all just that of course
I wish my business was not still growing as the Tampa area laid off 40,000 mortgage people
I wish my business was not still growing as about half the Realtors left the business ~10,000 people
than of course all the construction stopped and we have dozens of unfinished subdivisions
which of course leads to the laying off of all those 10s of 1000s of construction related jobs
when home sales drop, renovations usually rise, but that has not been the case this time. so more contractors laying off help or going out of business completely
it is kind of tough going out there job wise
I have been looking at supplemental income while starting up another business
I am either over-qualified or under-qualified
in todays classifieds there is a whopping 180 job openings, most in healthcare
thats for 3 counties, including Tampa

anybody else noticing more 'regular people' panhandling?
i have even seen a couple of families now
it is no longer just the usual dregs

Gotta ask; How many of those contractors were cutting American construction workers throats by hireing nothing but Mexican immigrants(green cards) ,and wet backs (illegals) ? Valid question! Don`t give me that conservative commie whine, "Americans wont do that kind of work anymore". Here in Nashville I worked new construction the entire summer of 2004 and saw maybe 2% of the crews were Americans. For all you whiney assed contractors out there,"If you cut your own throat, lie in the bloody mess",and Fugg you. How much money you pigin in now? There is no bigger pile of sticks and tar paper than a Mexican built home. I don`t want to hear any commie whine about how good their workmanship is either. 05,06,07,08...same story different fat assed contractor. My most humble appologies in advance,I`m comming out of my skin with all the bull**** about us "piece of crap Americans". The American work force is #1. The rest of this crap hole world are commie and muslims. Fugg Globalism and globalists. We are there ,hows the fit ?

it is liberals who say Illegals are necessary to do the jobs Americans will not. Conservatives typically want them out of the country
want to try again
