On a tough day, Obama escapes for a while

WASHINGTON (AP) - On the rockiest day of his young administration, President Barack Obama did what surely made him happy for a while.

He left.

With little notice, the president and first lady Michelle Obama bolted the gated compound of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in their tank of a limousine on Tuesday. They ended up at a Washington public school, greeted by children who could not care less about the collapse of a Cabinet secretary nomination.

"We were just tired of being in the White House," the president candidly told the gleeful second-graders at Capital City Public Charter School.

My Way News - On a tough day, Obama escapes for a while

Hmm, is the presidency too tough for Mr. Obama? I think this is another poor judgment call on the Presidents part. What Message is this sending to the American people?

Absolutely right, this proves he can't take it. Let's dump him.

This is horrible! What does it say about his dedication to the American people?!
I look forward to next week's gripping follow up of "White House aide: Obama Used The Bathroom Once and Didn't Wash His Hands"

"We got out! They let us out!" Mrs. Obama said as the kids and their teachers laughed.

They were joking.:coffeepap

You're right, Obama should never be allowed to leave the White House until his term is up. Who would have ever thought that being President of the United States might be stressful? Obviously the American people couldn't possibly understand that, and therefore any president who ever tries to get away for a couple hours is demoralizing the American people and letting the terrorists win.

Hmm and people made fun of Bush for going to crawford, reading to childeren, and other small items like this.

odd how the world changes.

Hmm and people made fun of Bush for going to crawford,

They did?

reading to childeren,

I'll tell you what. If there's a major terrorist attack on American soil while Obama is visiting this school, and he doesn't immediately leave, you can criticize him for this. Deal?

Obtuse is not your color.

Sorry, I forgot Critisizm of the one will not be tolerated.

Yeah, because leaving the White House for a few hours to talk to kids at a Washington public school is the same as going to Crawford Texas and taking more vacation time than any other President.

Oh, and as another poster said: he was reading to children during a national crisis when we got attacked. Putting things in perspective obviously isn't your strongest suit.

Remember when the liberals were bashing Bush for going on "vacation" all the time. This ***** has been in office for a week and already he needs one.

Fail. He snuck out because it got too much. It shows weakness.

REally? 2 posts for you to go personal?

Actually there's been no attack, thank gawd, and I've seen hints of the "deer in the headlights" look. Geithner, Daschle, Killefer, my, my, what a pity.

Fail. He snuck out because it got too much. It shows weakness.

Its not weakness, its an attempt to fulfill a campaign promise.

The stop at the school underscored a promise that the Obamas made and insist they will keep: to avoid getting caught up in a White House bubble. They say they will be visible parts of the Washington community - even in the midst of a hectic day. Or a difficult one.

Now if only he would take something from his visit and force congress to cut all of the pork and useless crap from the stimulus bill. Instead he endorses it, he's quickly becoming a tool.

Perhaps to you it does. To me it shows that our President is a human being who wanted to get away from the office for a couple of hours.

Well, considering that a majority of your posts since the election started has been critical of Obama (some over legitimate issues, others over completely trivial issues like this one) it's hard not to become a bit cynical when you post this stuff. I realize that you and others are disgusted by the fact that he won, but it's sad that you can't put partisan differences aside and give the man a chance and criticize him on legitimate issues. Yet here you are attacking him because he left the White House for a couple of hours and wanted to get away. So yes, I'm going to criticize you, the poster, when you continue to clog up the forum with complete tripe like this.

Really? Which one? :lol::mrgreen:

I guess you get what you vote for. To me it shows weakness the way he went about it...

OOOOH this is too much, all my appointiees cant pay thier taxes let me go read to childeren.....

Yeah that's presdential, that shows leadership.....

Or, heres is an idea. You can ignore my posts/threads and what not and keep your personal attacks to yourself.

That will cut down in the "tripe" in these threads by 100% :2wave:

Yeah, you're right. The man should just be a complete robot diligently working to get us out of this economic crisis. How dare he take a break away from the office! He should be tried for treason and impeached right away! How dare a President show that he's a human. Humanity is weakness!!

Nah, I think I'll keep doing it because I have a feeling that it annoys you as much as most of your absurd and pointless threads do. Oh, and I have an idea too:

If you don't like my replies to your threads you can always report my posts. That way you can be completely free of legitimate criticism.

Are you serious? I quoted your article and they explained it clear as day....

Note the  and the

Its a wierd lame ass campaign promise. I'd rather he keep his ethics promise.

I wouldn't even start a thread on it if he broke this promise. I promise.
