Obama Blames himself for mishandling Daschle

When people who served for Republican Presidents find Daschle to be a competent appointtee, I give that a lot of weight.

Yes, we know that any admission on Obama's part will never be good enough.

Of course they're saying that. Daschle was a very nice and well loved guy. What do you expect them to say, that he's a twat?

Are you going to ignore the fact that these two men didn't think that Daschle should have withdrawn his name? In other words, they didn't think the problems warranted a withdrawal. It's one thing to say, "He would make a great HHS Secretary; however, his tax problems posed a serious problem, and he was correct in withdrawing his name." That's not what they said.

Why on earth would they say that? What would they possibly have to gain, other than piling on a guy when he's down, seeming like jerks, and losing a friend?

To refocus the question: Tax problems aside, do you think that Daschle's payments for what was essentially lobbying for the health industry were problematic, given that he would be regulating those same companies?

Just heard the Franken owes $72,000 in back taxes. This is getting ridiculous, these sleezebags who wants US to pay more taxes, to be patriots, are tax swindlers and traitors!

Not paying taxes makes you a traitor? Isn't that what Republicans/Conservatives keep saying they want to do less off? Pay taxes I mean. I'll let you think about the 5 finger slap you just shoved up your ass.

Yes, it was problematic.

Now he's nominated another political loon for Deputy Attorney General, someone who represented Playboy, said that parental notification prior to abortion was a burden on the teenage girl, and that European standards should be applied to the death penalty.

By this logic, supporting drug legalization is the same as trafficking heroin.

How do any of those three items make him a loon?

Yeah I'll believe it's sincere when he asks gheitner to step down.

What? Dude. Keep up.

American : Not paying taxes is treason.

Hatuey : Isn't that what Republicans/Conservatives want to do less off?

someone who represented Playboy,

I like Playboy.

said that parental notification prior to abortion was a burden on the teenage girl,

It is.

and that European standards should be applied to the death penalty.

European standards? It should be abolished.

You've yet to show how any of this makes this guy a political loon.

American is saying that not paying the taxes that you're legally obligated to pay is "treason" or whatever.

That's not what conservatives advocate for - they advocate for the tax laws to be changed so that it's legal to pay less taxes.

Similarly, drug dealers just refuse to follow the drug laws, while supporters of legalization want the laws themselves to be changed.

Re: Obama: 'i Screwed Up'

So nice to have a President that will admit to his mistakes. Unlike Bush!

Unhappy voters jam Capitol Hill phone lines - CNN.com
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The recent debate over the nearly $900 billion economic stimulus plan and revelations of tax problems by three Obama administration appointees have voters angrily jamming phone lines on Capitol Hill to air their frustrations to their elected representatives.

Their reactions are putting pressure on Congress and benefiting watchdog groups on both sides of the political aisle.

Capitol operators tell CNN Radio that phone lines have been jammed for the past two weeks, sometimes prompting busy signals.

Did you think it was problematic when Bush appointed people to positions who had lobbied for the industry they would be now regulating? I hope so, NYU.

Your ears must be full of wax. Bush admitted to plenty of mistakes on several occasions. Just because you don't want to believe he did, because of your mouthfoaming, doesn't mean he didn't.

According to Biden paying taxes is patriotic, so logically not paying must mean your a traitor.
