Michael Steele becomes first black RNC chairman

What is your thoughts on how the Southern Strategy affects the GOP today?

It doesn't.

Funny how you keep asking questions but refuse to answer those posed to you.

 well that changes everything..... My tone was based on you saying it was.

Sorry about that. So what do you think the GOP would have to do to reach out to blacks more?

I guess I do not have such a bleak world view as you.

I have seen just as much racism in NYC as I have in Georgia.....

dem rep is not a factor imo.

The thing about racism nowdays is that it isn't housed in "I hate niggers" mindsets, as much as people have negative views of other races, but it's subconcious so that they don't realize they're doing it. It's complicated.

How so? I answered Goobie's question?

And you don't think a strategy that won over a huge swath of the country by appealing to racist feelings has any effect today? I find that incredulous.

And back to your earlier post,

What can't you get through your thick skull? Why can't you even slightly consider the possibility that perhaps color doesn't matter?

The vast majority of blacks are ideologically and socially incompaitable with the implementation of laws and government policies that preserve as mush personal freedom as possible, while expecting those that then exercise said freedom to be held to a commesurate amount of personal responsibility.

Would you like to make your own mind up, before we go on?

Nothing really. I think as we become a more integrated society people will begin to let go of thier hard community views and be more free to express differences of opinion,.

I have always thought Obama's election could have benefits for the GOP in the long term. Minorities usually vote Democrat. The irish did, the italians did, the Germand did, the hispanics do, blacks do... but once a group stops functioning as a distinct minority group, they, for a lack of better way to put it, become mainstream American, and vote by whatever other factors come up. Now blacks have been here longer than any other ethnic group, but due to their unique history, are still very much a minority group. Having essentially become as equal in stature as whites, (a black president), I could see the Mainstream-ization of blacks taking place. But then again, I could be wrong.

We agree? Wow, call the press. Which statement, exactly?

I think that there are socioeconomic factors that play into it as well.

That doesn't mean that poor people are all dems or that all rich people are reps.
