President Barack Obama is coming to the Capitol this afternoon to curry favor with congressional Republicans. But it appears GOP leaders have already made up their minds to oppose his $825 billion stimulus plan.
House Republican Leader John A. Boehner and his No. 2, Whip Eric Cantor, told their rank-and-file members Tuesday morning during a closed-door meeting to oppose the bill when it comes to the floor Wednesday, according to an aide familiar with the discussion. Boehner told members that he's voting against the stimulus, and Cantor told the assembled Republicans that there wasn't any reason for them to support the measure, according to another person in the room. Cantor and his whip team are going to urge GOP members to oppose it.
In a nod to the president, Boehner did point out that this is the third time that Obama has met with Republican leaders, compared with the zero meetings they've held with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) — a now-familiar refrain from Republicans in the House. But Obama’s diplomacy clearly isn’t buying any votes yet.
Well the honeymoon is over.

Oh, I thought Obama was ushering in a new era of bipartisanship.

Oh, I thought Obama was ushering in a new era of bipartisanship.

And Republican Conservatives, like the partisans and anti-Americans POS they are, have refused it. - Game over? Oooh now I know how why Republicans and Conservatives get their jollies from saying anti-American...it DOES feel good.

Obama had a honeymoon with Republicans? You people seriously need to stop using these phrases.

Of course he had a honeymoon with the Republicans, right have he had his bachelor party with Hamas, and a final-date with Stalin's dead body.

Being against Bus was Patriotic. Standing up for Conservative Principles (little late guys) is now "Un-American" Got it.

Where is McCain? At least the old dude was thinking to fire the guilty ones for the falling of the economy last year. I thought that Obama should prosecute and punish the ones who have misused great amounts of tax payers money instead of rewarding them giving them more bailouts. :coffeepap

Hopefully they leave Him holding the bag with his Marxists in Congress, like Clinton was left holding the bag in 1993. 1994 was a good year for Republicans... that combined with HillaryCare saw the R's win the house for the first time since the Mammoth became extinct, and they didn't lose a house or senate seat... or governorship.

Let Obama of Al Jaazira and his party take full credit for the ensuing mess and massive waste.

The O of A and his party of loyal Marxists are proposing plans that have never worked anywhere at any time. When tried in the past they have exasperated the problems instead of solving them. Money wasted. Fact is, the last "stimulus" that was needed immediately went Boom!
