What victory. Stabilisation in Iraq has not increased, more and more US troops die daily, and for what? To prevent a civil war? They ar eon the brink of civil war, and it isn't moving form there. IF they fight their civil war, kill their own people, and then install their governmnt the way they want it, it saves American lives. We can't got there and try to force our way of life on them. IF they don't want a democracy, they don't want it! Leave it be!

THATS how we can save Americna lives, not with the Patriot act and violate our constitutional rights.

Thats exactly whats happening. We have our entire military goal focused in Iraq so intelligence is CRAP in Afghanistan. They have to take the word ofAfghanis, and their translators could be lieing to them for all they know, or their Afghani informants cna be lieing to them, so we don't know who were attacking.

Tell me how many Terror plots the patriot act has acually foiled. It is ineffective. And I personally d not want my private e-mail or phone calls monitered by the government.

Say for instance someone is having phone sex with their girflriend and they are muslim and the government phone tapped them, thats just creepy. IT doesn't help in any way, it just violates the constitution, and I am honestly ashmed that our supreme court didn't deem it unconstitutional.

I have extreme support of my country, and if it were up to me, we would have caught Bin Laden already, but yor good 'ole pal Bush didn't allow that, did he? HE wanted SAddam to damn bad to get OSama, the man that actually ATTACKED the US and kille 2000 innocent Americans.

Your left-wing propaganda sites must have forgotten to inform you that the surge worked, contrary to everything Barack Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi told us. We reached huge military and political milestones and have given huge chunks of the country back to the Iraqis. Al Qaida is in full retreat, regrouping in Afghanistan. Get a clue.

And that's pretty much how the whole thing went; With the President turning to Gregg Craig to fill him in those and other details, and then Obama repeating verbatim Craig's words. It's amazing how questions like this seem to have to be explained to the primary actor, the president. There's more; consult your C-SPAN video library for a replay a little later.

It reminds me a lot of the Governor in Blazing Saddles, whose chief of staff was bringing him a constant flow of documents to sign, and having to ask what they were all about.

Just a quibble, I guess...

But how can this be characterized as changing or undoing Bush's policy?

Obama is merely extending Bush's policy for 12 months. Sure, he's promising to do something in 12 months, but as we have seen over the last year, his promises are not worth the air exhaled as he makes such declarations (FISA, public campaign finance, immediate Iraq withdrawal, lobbyists, play a new game with new people, etc., etc.).

I love how the media cntinues characterizing Obama's extension's of Bush policies as change...
