Obama pledges 'era of openness'

I think Obama's roots are that of his beginnings as an attorney. Meaning he is probably going to shift his "colors" to represent his client. At first it was just the anti-war crowd, then it was just the democrats, then it was moderates as he drew nearer the election, and now as President, he is going to attempt to represent his client which is the American people. I personally hope he holds up to his promise of "not apologizing for our way of life", that he put forth in his inaugural address.

LMAO!!!

His roots are social activism. He is a liberal. He has never demonstrated any openness to ideologically different ideas.

Period.

I wonder when this promise will expire?

During the campaign we saw all sorts of important promises that ultimately expired when they became politically problemmatic, e.g., NAFTA, FISA and telco immunity, immediate withdrawal from Iraq, immediate closing of Gitmo, public financing, etc., etc., etc.
Expired today; put off by at least one year.

I believe that at the heart of this man, is simply a populist. Meaning he is going to do and say what he thinks the majority of the population wants to hear or see done. I don't care for populism myself, as ruling accoring to opinion polls is folly to me. But thats how I see him. He is going to do and say things he thinks represents the United States.

That is until he gives a speech overseas ;)

Shoot, that Gitmo promise had expired back in November when Obama and his team acknowledged the difficulty in closing the detention center there. yesterday just formalized the extension of a Bush policy that Obama expressed contempt for and that the Democrats rallied around as a core political issue.

All of Obama's promises come with an expiration date...all of them.

Actually I consider Obama kind of a flip flopper.. He has changed a lot of his stands the last year for example. I hope he goes back to what he first was.. That he finds his roots.
Back bencher in the Illinois Senate who couldn't muster the guts to vote on critical issues?
Jeremiah Wright roots?
Tony Rezko roots?
William Ayers, Saul Alinsky roots?

Having Hillary Clinton as part of his government seriously bumped the image of Obama, I think in most circles, except the super conservative, Islam paranoids, fear spreaders.

I'm still interested in this poster's explanation for the above comments.

Its difficult to explain really.. Its my collected opinion of her throughout the primary election, and how she changed and went from using fair methods to cowardly and petty methods to try to win the primary. It is also a result of her changing her standings and integrity along the whole primary process and becoming more extreme and closer to a conservative view than her claimed liberal view. Some of her extreme statements and stands towards the end(of the primaries) and her petty way of not admitting her loss kinf of tipped me over from not REALLY liking her in the beginning, to more and more dislike her, and in the end just dislike her strongly.

Perhaps that helps?

Huh, so you feel that Obama's selection of this petty, vindictive person as SoS enhanced Obama's image. Ok. How does the selection enhance Obama's image, an image that was already extremely favorable?

No, it did the opposite, it dented his image, partly broke it. Bumped, I meant as in a car that has crashed.. My mistake, silly choice of word.

Hillary Clinton takes charge at State Department
Before a raucous, cheering crowd of about 1,000 people, the country's 67th secretary of state pledged to boost the morale and resources of the diplomatic corps and promised them a difficult but exciting road ahead.

Talk about dense. You really don't see the answer to your question?

Uh, speaking of dense...before speaking for Maximus, let him answer the question about his comment.

Given Maximus' response I suspect you'll be gracious enough to at least acknowledge your mistake if not apologize for actin the fool?

He's a politician, on top of that he's from Chicago. Seriously, how long is it going to take for people to understand you can't trust the man? He'll say whatever he wants to get whatever he wants; anyone whom is a liability to him will be thrown under the bus. Remember when Obama said that he'd no sooner disown Rev. Wright than he would his own grandmother? What happened? Wright wouldn't shut his mouth, kept proving a thorn in Obama's side. Then right overboard he went, Obama ditched him. Just like any politician, he's untrustworthy. Trust in the government is not a wise thing, trust in a Chicago politician is worthy of being committed to an insane asylum.

C'mon! You can't honestly sit there and tell me or anyone else you wouldn't have done the same thing if you were in his position? Obama gave him a chance to do the right thing by him and the not-so-good Rev. blew it! I'd have ditch him, too.
