Bush commutes sentences of former border patrol agents

Wow! This is going to make a lot of people very happy. Surely Bush's approval will go up 5 points for his last week.

I really didn't think he was going to do it.

Thank you, President Bush! :)

I thought he had been killed....nevertheless.....what about their actions make you believe that they deserved to be pardoned?

WHOA! Disney Do-o-o-o-o-ode. PROOF that you have no graps on the facts. Why not learn something then and only then post. Is there ANYTHING you DO know about this case?Anything?:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Weed is not dangerous, but it is illegal. Transporting it across international borders is illegal. See lerxst post (the one that you thanked) as to why they were defending themselves.

Yeah, I hadn't read that when I posted. That's why I deleted my post. ;)

I didn't realize that he had something in his hand.

I don't think the marijuana is a big deal. I think it should be legalized anyway. I mean, after all he could have been bringing something far worse into the country. That being said, he obviously shouldn't have assaulted the federal officer, pointed an object at the federal officer or fled. I seriously can't believe the guy got immunity after all of that.

I agree, weed is not that big of deal as a substance. But by the law it was definitely a serious felony. Further, until weed is legalized it's going to generate lots of criminally based profit which is plagued by violence. Weed itself is not a big deal, the violence that comes with drug smuggling however is a big deal.

Many libbies supported the pardon including Rohm Emanuel, Obama's incoming Chief of Staff and our own Kay Baily Hutchinson.

Being an unarmed "repeat offender drug smuggler" gives green light to a couple of lying vigilante thugs to shoot him in the back?
Wow....where have this country's values gone...when it is not only ok but deemed by some to be hero-ic to then lie and try to cover up thier illegal actions.

Not only was he a drug smuggler he was an invader. All invaders of our nation should be shot on sight. Where I live in Texas you can be shot for being on someones private property. But are BP agents can't shoot invaders crossing our borders illegally. What the hell is wrong with our country's values.

Ramos and Compean are heros as far as I am concerned. They shot a low life piece of ****. The only thing they did wrong is they didn't kill the SOB.

they did not break the law, they were railroaded. They believed the testimony of an illegal alien over the Law enforcement officers.

Maybe you would too if you actually looked at the physical evidence that basically refuted the agents story.

Yeah, that's why they got pardoned.

Bush commutes sentences of former US border agents - Yahoo! News

Typical of his Presidency....Bush commutes the sentences of the border patrol agents who shot the man in the back.

Granted ... this man was a suspected drug dealer, nevertheless, he was unarmed and shot in the back and killed. Even worse, they lied and tried to cover up the killing.

wow did you get a bunch of this wrong.

The fact that you thought he was killed is enough to show conclusively that you really are ignorant on the details.

What else would you expect from a DISNEYdude?

They weren't pardoned. Their sentences were commuted. Big difference.

But they should have been pardoned.

I guess it would have looked a little funny considering he could have pardoned them long ago.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson? I hope she runs for Governor, just so I can watch Kinky Friedman kick her ass. :)

The sentences being commuted means they are forever convicted felons as opposed to pardoning them. This falls in with Georgie boy's love of Mexico more than his own country. As a life long Republican GWB was a major disappointmet to say the least. It is him and his adminsistration that brought us a president with next to nothing for experience so the next four years should be equally ..... "trying". Maybe he can get the two agents jobs feeding his horses.

Nonsense. You can claim this all you want, but you protect a drug dealing illegal alien smuggler, over 2 border patrol agents.

I am comfortable with my position. You are not even sure of the facts as you thought the guy was killed.....

You probably cheer every time the police shoot unarmed individuals in the back as well.

I will never understand why some people in this country believe that police don't have to follow the same laws as everyone else simply because they carry a badge.

That mindset is one of the most dangerous things that can happen in a free country.

To assume that would be foolish.

To assume this of me would also be foolish.

Want to build any more strawmen?

Why would it be foolish.....I think it characterizes many of your posts over the last year or two.
If its a "Strawman"....its only because you supplied the straw.

Let me interpret this for the thread participants: “I didn't have any facts and jumped to wild eyed conclusions regarding this case because I would prefer we set murdering drug smugglers free and imprison those trying to protect our borders and American citizens. However, I also refuse to allow the facts to change my rabid partisan views about Bush.”

This, people, is what is wrong with Disney Dudes "chicken little" mentality and is the makeup of many other Bush haters in this country.

But they should have been pardoned.

I agree, I am still very disappointed that Bush didn't have the courage to PARDON these two men for doing their job. It is still an injustice that they now have a criminal record in my opinion.
