SEOUL, South Korea – South Korea said its army remained on alert Sunday, a day after North Korea threatened military action in response to Seoul's hard-line stance against its communist regime.

The latest harsh rhetoric from the isolated regime could be a test for Barack Obama days before he is sworn in as the new U.S. president, an analyst said.

Let's not forget the problems in northeast Asia while the rest of the world is focusing on Southwest Asia. Kim is on my short list of tyrants who need a hole in their heads right along with Tan and Mugabe.

Leave it to a Leftie to come up with an absurd statement such as this.
Leave it to a rightie to bury his head in the sand. Take a look at the news about the USA internally and internationally, and think Bush.

Bush had the help of a lot of other righties in screwing thing up so badly.

The article doesn't specify, why did NK issue the threat? Was it in response to something specific or just regional sabre-rattling?

You are talking about comparing President Bush to Kim Il Song. That comparison is rediculous on the face of it. The US is having problems, but to say they are all Bush's fault is an oversimplification. Actually, there are many parts of Africa and even parts of Asia where Bush is quite popular.

Just their normal sabre-rattling in my opinion, perhaps conveniently timed with a change in power in the US.
