After seeing Bush owe up to a lot of his mistakes today, I am looking forward to that address when he gives it this week. Bush is clearly no longer drinking the Kool-Aid of what is left of the Neocon movement, and seems to be more like the George Bush that was governor of Texas before he ran for President.

As of now, I will no longer use the term "Bushneviks", because Bush no longer deserves to be associated with the Neocons. Some may say it's too late, but I say better late than never.

I read another similar article today, and admit I have a newfound respect for him. Not sure where it came from after years of denials, but it's nice to see him take ownership. I can bet there are a bunch of things he'd do over.

Nope. I will blame Obama for them. That's the way it works.

What did he own up to that he didn't own up to years ago? He has already said he regretted "Mission Accomplished" and a lot of his rhetoric like "Bring em on!"

He sorta retracted the apology he had made right after Katrina, saying he was judged too harshly about it and that 30,000 had been rescued off rooftops within a few days.

He defended Iraq saying it was the right thing to do. He seems very confident of his presidency.

Unless BHO does somthing VERY drastic from the 21st-30th Jan then I think we can blame the political system in the US not either president. all three arms of teh governemtn have presided over the doubleing of the national debt over the last 8 yrs.

Right...phony "Independent and Veteran "............Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa........Haaaaaaaaaaaaa

I been stalked and baited by much better than the likes of you. I suggest that you cease your behavior. I am not going to take the bait. As of now, you are on ignore.

Asked about WMDs, Bush grins: 'Things didn't go according to plan'

A confident George W. Bush took the podium Monday for what is likely the last press conference of his presidency, fielding a panoply of questions on the economy, President-elect Barack Obama, and what he sees as the failings of his term.

Speaking about the Administration's claim that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction -- which served as the cornerstone of the president's justification for war -- Bush laughed.

"Things didn't go according to plan, let's put it that way," Bush said with a smile, then a grimace. The WMDs touted by Bush and his advisers were never found. More than 4,000 American troops have died as a result of the invasion; the toll for Iraqi civilians is in the tens of thousands.

"Clearly putting a mission accomplished on an aircraft carrier was a mistake," he replied when asked what he'd done wrong under his watch.
"Some of my rhetoric has been a mistake."

"I've thought about Katrina," he added, without identifying particular errors in judgment.

"Abu Ghraib obviously was a huge disappointment," he continued. "Not having weapons of mass destruction was a big disappointment."

We shouldn't blame the system. We should blame ourselves.

Darn it Dana. I was looking forward to you toying with him. I think he's a hoot.

LOL. I don't want the infraction points for screwing with BonnieTOT. The only reason BonnieTOT is stalking me in so many threads and baiting me is to get a rise out of me so that I DO get infraction points. So, I put BonnieTOT(her/him/it) on ignore. LOL.

His speech should be short.

"**** you Bitches, I'm out"

Out he is, but for all his problems, he did do at least one thing quite well, and that was picking judges. Other than his cleaning lady (Harriet Meiers - LOL), his picks were all outstanding. Eventually, Iraq, torture, and spying will all be dead issues, as change for the better will happen in all 3, whether it is Obama changing it, or the next Republican president changing it after 2012. However, Bush's judiciary of strict constructionists will last a generation. And, my friends, as much as I have bashed Bush over the years, I must say that the judges will definitely be a legacy, and a good one too.

NOTE: Did I just say "my friends"? Oh my God. I KNEW I should not have voted for McCain. LOL.

I agree about the judges but in all fairness, I usually state it this way.

"The one thing that Bush certainly did well was pick judges, but he tried to screw that up with his Harriet Myers pick!"

Personally I think he has mellowed a bit of late, although I found his conduct on the Israel stuff uninspiring, although he is an American - what do you expect from them on Israel!

I hope he has a good life post office, at the bottom I don't think he was a bad man.

As I've expressed several times on here before, I've practically fallen in love with post-hysteria Bush. Or, more specifically, fallen in love with him as a literary character. I'm psyched about the speech. Perhaps it will be a poignant book-end to the bizarre, tragic tale that is his presidency.

Talk about drinking the Kool-Aid...you most certainly are. Is that cherry or grape?

Excuse me for not being up on my US vocab but doesn't Kool-Aid mean a particular partisan or party line?

If that is so then he certainly isn't doing that but you on the other hand certainly could be said to.

Let's not get too nostalgic here. Let's not be excessively merciful. You know, there have been times in recent days when I pitied Bush, when I felt bad for him because he knows that he is a disgrace and that his legacy is always going to be one of disgrace. I feel bad for all the mean things people say about him. For the 25 years he's aged in the last 8. He looks so much older now, his demeanor's changed, he doesn't seem anything like the monster he once was. He is powerless and broken. And so it seems mean to be mean to this old man, to call him a disgrace.
But then I remember what he did to my beloved country, the damage he inflicted. And the arrogant, sneering child that he was when he had power. There is no defense for his record. And if there is redemption for that man, it's not in this world. Forgiving him is the sin of excessive mercy.

Don't know what it is. Maybe the full moon is out. But I have had a pack of these guys trolling the crap out of me with personal attacks lately. Maybe they are just pissed off because I was right about the Neocons getting their asses handed to them. I predicted it years ago, and now it's happened.
