Blagojevich to name Roland Burris to Obama's Senate seat

Blagojevich to name Roland Burris to Obama's Senate seat :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Gov. Blagojevich

"I have previously stated publicly I cannot cosign a document that certified any appointment by Rod Blagojevich for the vacant United States Senate seat in Illinois. Although I have respect for former Attorney General Roland Burris, because of the current cloud of controversy surrounding the governor, I cannot accept the document," White said.

Former Illinois Attorney General Roland Burris, 71, had lobbied the governor for the position in recent weeks.

Looks like a game of quienes mas macho is brewing in IL..... Blago is some kinda nut to appoint ANYONE.........

I would like to add, It would be to Obama's benefit to stay the hell away from these shenanigans.....

He's going for the insanity plea.

Why? What's the downside in doing this for Blagojevich?

Burris itsn't necessarily a bad appointment when you consider the politics of the area, my only bitch is that Blogo is flagrantly defying the whole process and asserting innocence when they've got him dead bang on corruption. The whole process is a slap in the face to all of us, but especially Il. state voters IMHO. I agree with Shiznit though, it looks like he is trying to set up a case for the insanity defense.

I actually thing that Blago is going to survive this. Just a hunch. Think Marion Barry.

Marion Barry was oppressed and set up by the white devil. Blago doesn't have that same card to play.

Blago is crazy, crazy as a fox. He knows exactly what he's doing - he's making the democrats very uncomfortable because they want to bring him down fast.

The fact that Burris is african-american and very qualified was the perfect ploy for Blago.

I'm telling you, the guy is fearless.

yeah I see this,. i respect his gameness, no doubt, but damn........

he is not going gently into that night!

I really wish Blago didn't do this. Even if this guy is qualified and might be a good pick, he will never be looked that way because he was picked by Blago.

Marion Barry went to jail and then got reelected, that's not the same thing and that's not really "surviving."

I tend to look at any politician that comes out of the Illinois Machine that way. Catch my drift?

Hypocrits?

How about lets record ALL conversations by ALL politicians when the discuss fund raising? US Political fundraising realities suck. Anyone can tell you that.

Blagojevich may have been Boasting, Bravodo, or Swagger on the tapes.

Is Bravodo talk illegal?

"I'm such a tough bad guy that I am going to hold up that guy's funding till they give me a donation!!!"

The proper political response should not be: Blagojevich should resign.

A more real approach could be:
"I think it may be unfair to take snippets of conversation out of context in trying to accurately determine the Mens Rae, mental state of intent, for any crime. Governor Blagojevich is entitled to the presumption of innocense, as he has claimed. A few recorded snippets of phone conversations do not necessarily accurately represent a deliberate criminal intent."

In football, players and fans get hyped by overstating their intent, "We are going to Kill Team X!!!" Is this proof of attempted first degree murder if a football fan throws a paper cup on the field?

What are your own worst intoxicated conversations that you would least like to be re-played on national televsion????

It's a great pick. It lets them play the race card. You know the Democrats cringe at the notion of keeping a Black American out of a group that now completely lacks them.

Blago is a prick, but he is a politically astute one.

What is so bad about being a BLOWHARD?

Please post a transcript of the your most incriminating appearing pohone conversation, which if taped by the FBI, would appear that you were committing a crime. Ever talked about hour desires to rape a woman, but never actually followed through?

Many people have ideas for legal activities, like making love, that they express in illegal terms, like a desire to rape a particular woman.

Should all the men imprisoned who thought or spoke about forcing themselves on a woman, and yet later were able to actaully make lover to her, without her objection?

I think all the politicians are terrified, because the are all guilty of huffing, puffing, exagerating, about strategies for fundraising. .

no bro, i never in any state talked about raping a woman.

What are some of the ways you have heard men, who are not rapists, discuss making love, in terms of an illegal use of force, without consent.

I still don't see anyone posting thier worst phone conversation.

Psyching-up conversation to go do fundrasing is not a crime.

..

none?

What are the various ways in which politicians and fundraisres psych themselves up to do fundraising?

Blagojevich's subject conversations were with his chief of staff, who most certainly knew that Blagojevich was just RANTING to get psyched for fundraising.

One of the biggest factors limiting people from running for office in the US is their ability and willingness to raise campaign funds. So now you want to throw stones at Blagojevich, because he crosses the line into fantisizing about illegal acts, as a technique of getting hemself UP for asking for campaign contributions.

I don't see alot of posts about how people get themselves psyched about asking people for campaign contributions.

What about Preachers who threaten paritioners with burning in Hell if the don't Tithe? There is no legal proof of Hell. What about thos preachers that threaten married women whoattend church, that if their hubands don't tithe, that the wife will spend eternity inf Heavan, separtated from their husbands, for eternity who are going to burn in Hell for not Tithing?

Fundraising is a dirty business, filled with deceipt if not fraud.

Why are there no Articles of Impeachment for Blagojevich? Politicans can't write the Articles without three fingers pointing back at themselves.

What are you talking about? No one I've ever had a conversation with including myself has ever suggested a desire to force a woman to have sex with them against their will.

You might want to expand your circle of acquaintances?

You're right, he is innocent until proven guilty, which is why he's not currently in jail. However, the fact that he's not yet been convicted of a crime doesn't mean that I or anyone else have to think that he's innocent or that he shouldn't resign.
