Trump walks out of news conference after reporter asks him about Veterans Choice lie he's told more than 150 times

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump abruptly ended a Saturday news conference after a reporter challenged him on a lie about veterans health care he has told more than 150 times.

Trump, speaking at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club, had claimed again that he is the one who got the Veterans Choice program passed -- adding, "They've been trying to get that passed for decades and decades and decades and no president's ever been able to do it, and we got it done."

In fact, former President Barack Obama signed the Choice program into law in 2014. The law, which allowed eligible veterans to be covered by the government for care provided by doctors outside the VA system, was a bipartisan initiative spearheaded by two senators Trump has repeatedly criticized, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and the late John McCain of Arizona.

What Trump signed was a 2018 law, the VA MISSION Act, that modified and expanded the eligibility criteria from the Choice program. Rather than tout that bill, Trump has claimed over and over that he created Veterans Choice itself -- after others had failed for "50 years."

"Why do you keep saying that you passed Veterans Choice?" CBS News White House correspondent Paula Reid asked Trump at the Saturday news conference, ...

COMMENT:-

Childish and petulant behaviour is now "presidential".

It's rude to call Trump on his lies. The professional thing to do as a journalist is to allow the President to use your media outlet as a venue for spreading false claims without question.

Tweety and his cultists don't like reality, so they bring their own.

<SARC>[I think that the "presidential" thing for Mr. Trump to do would have been to do what the woman who had just been informed that her husband and children had been killed in a car accident did when a TV journalist stuck a microphone in her face and asked her how she felt<SARC>[.

The woman looked the reporter straight in the eye and said "Why don't you take your _F[fill in the blank]G_ microphone and _F[fill in the blank]G_ stick it up your _F[fill in the blank]G_ ass.".

[The tape of the incident (recorded by OTHER reporters camera crews) was once quite widely available.]

I applaud that woman for her judicious exercise of her First Amendment Rights.

Trump has never had to face consequences of his actions his entire life so why would he start now?

When he leaves office and is no longer able to command obedience from his followers he's going to be completely screwed and it's going to be fun to watch.

I don't know why any one would expect anything else. Anytime he gets called out he acts like a spoiled child and tries his hardest to deflect. I just don't know how his supporters accept this behavior. It's a pure embarrassment to the country.

Trump acts the way his supporters imagine they would if given the chance to run the country. The difference is when they imagine how they would act, there are no negative repercussions, and when he acts how they want him to, 150K people die, or kids get put in prisons, or there are tiki torch rallies.

Trump is a loser. And a rather pathetic one at that. A spoiled son of a crude, crooked, but successful real estate developer.

He was never raised on the attributes that makes one a success. He was taught that he was entitled to it, and everyone and everything around him should bow down and worship him.

So he has surrounded himself with wannabes, yes men and thugs all his life. He has never accepted responsibility for anything (this Executive Order stunt is only the latest example).

Sure, whatever. All I am saying is that the difference between Trump is that there are negative consequences to some of Trump's actions, and there are none to some moron supporter of his mentally masturbating.
