Sean Hannity removes 'gobbledygook' Latin motto from book cover

Hard to imagine how Latin is a dead language with so many experts in it.

Hard to imagine we have adults who don't understand what "dead language" means, and why Latin is a dead language. But your post proved me wrong.

What office is Hannity running for?

He may as well be Vice President as Trump seems to take Hannity's advice more than anyone else and Hannity is the mother of all suck-ups who'll agree with Trump no matter how bat**** insane his ideas are.

I get the feeling Hannity would be fine with Trump openly dating his missus if he thought it would annoy the libs.

As long as people use it, it is not a dead language. I was taught Latin in the 1960s, and still use it on occasion. Don't confuse your ignorance of a language with it being a dead language. Just because you don't know it does not mean it isn't used by someone else.

So you don't know why it's called a dead language either, and what the official meaning of "dead language" is.

Trump Fan Nation never disappoints when one is looking for ignorance in posts and members.

You guys would make a big deal out of anything.

I can't quite decide whether your infinite dishonesty or abysmal cluelessness is your dominant feature. Oh, and thanks for the assist.

So again, you don't know what a "dead language" is or why it's defined as a dead language. I was taught Latin in the 1980s. My sons were taught Latin in the 2000s. That has nothing to do with why scholars define it as a "dead language". Not at all surprised that you don't know.

Maybe you should ask Mr. Google for help.

A tan suit? WTF cares about him in a tan suit!? Seriously?

What are your thoughts on Grey Poupon?

I have no clue about this "tan suit" stuff But Grey Poupon is racist and needs to be boycotted. It is a veiled slur to black people.

One has to be truly stupid to declare a language "dead" while it is in use. But coming from you, I'm not the least bit surprised.

I'm not the one who declared it a dead language.

Why doesn't it shock me though that you admire me so much that you think I'm the person in history who said Latin is a dead language, and why. Thanks for the compliment!

Since you still don't know why a language is deemed "dead" and you admire me this much, I'll take pity on your ignorance and help you out. A dead language is one that is no longer in use by any country, village, people or community. Nobody converses in them. They are still taught but they are not conversational or cultural languages. Like Sumerian and Coptic.

Not even in your trailer in Wasilla will you hear people conversing in Latin.

You're welcome for the free education.

I know what a dead language is. Are you an expert in Latin now too?

DEAD LANGUAGE | meaning in the Cambridge English Dictionary

It is dead, because nobody speaks it as their mother tongue. Nobody is taught latin from birth. It's something people brag about having studied in university 60 years ago, like it means something today.

I'd take an intern who can figure out margins before an intern who brags about knowing a dead language that assholes use to make themselves seem educated.

You know, like Hannity.

The quote: "The Latin motto on Fox News anchor Sean Hannity’s new book has been changed after the original was described as “complete and utter gobbledygook” by a classics student.

These guys are hilarious. Just a couple weeks ago Don Trump Jr. published a book with a typo on the front cover.

I find that many of the posts on this forum are not what I'd call well written. Some of those I quote require more than a few [sic]'s. I've some background in editing and proofreading, so I'm probably more aware of errors than the average reader.

Regards, stay safe 'n well.

Six culinary terms that derived from Latin

"...some Mediterranean foods and luxuries were introduced to northern Europe by the Romans. Thus English uses words of Latin origin for important products such as cheese (from Latin caseus ) and wine (from Latin vinum ) ["Liquor," "toast," and "raisin" are also from Latin] and also for a few fruits and vegetables that were first planted in northern Europe by the Romans, such as plum (from Latin prunum ) and fennel (from Latin feniculum )." So it is used by a minority of people the right only cares about when they want to be pompous and not to actually speak it... but due to traditions in their careers that dont require anyone to actually be fluent in latin.

Got it. I guess it isnt a dead language like ancient Greek, huh? Lmao. You're goofing because you dont read threads carefully enough.

What is Latin for “Let’s see how far up Trump’s rear I can stick my head”? Would have made a better motto.

'“It is clear that whoever came up with this motto does not even know the basic noun cases in Latin or how they work,” wrote McDaniel. “The words in Hannity’s motto are real Latin words, but, the way they are strung together, they don’t make even a lick of sense.”'.
Lol who cares?

It’s like liberals have nothing better to do with their time.

You asked, "Who actually uses Latin?" I answered you thoughtfully, and your response is to bring up "the right" and "pomposity" and "traditions in careers"? Is this some sort of "anti-elitism" or insecurity thing with you? I really don't understand this response.
