The 9 Wildest Answers in Trump's Interview With Jonathan Swan

9 Wildest Answers in Trump’s Jonathan Swan Interview, Ranked

If you haven't seen the hugely talked about and wild interview yet, the full episode is up for free on Youtube. Trump seems to have completely lost his mind. Jonathan Swan destroys him quite easily by asking simple follow ups to his lies.

Some samples of the insanity:

This is just.....how petty can someone be?

What in the world?

Well they were great buddies.

AXIOS on HBO: President Trump Exclusive Interview (Full Episode) | HBO - YouTube

It was embarrassing to watch. That was supposed to be the leader of the world's most powerful nation? Words fail me.

Why is Donald Trump always so fixated on size? He always has to convince us that things are bigger than they really are.

If 3,000 people show up just say 3,000 people showed up. He doesn't have to say 5,000 people showed up.

The dude has some kind of issue.

It's called a superiority complex; that's why he exaggerates constantly, and attacks and vilifies anyone better educated, more qualified on any given subject or more knowledgeable than he is (not hard).

Superiority Complex: Understanding It, Traits, Treatment and More

"A superiority complex is a false confidence or bravado when little or no success, achievement, or talent is actually there".

At first, I thought that it was a parody with an impersonator made up to look like Trump.

It's rather simple. The conservatives mostly know that the majority of the crap that get's pushed out by the media, the left and general posters like yourself. Is nothing but overblown BS.

I watched the interview. Trump seemed just as fine as he's been doing and everyone I've seen trying to talk about it for the last day has had to cut the interview into pieces, or throw quotes out of context and even outright lie about what Trump said.

So even as an Independent, I can see that most of this is just being posted because it stokes outrage from within your little bubble.

The entire interview is available in full if you have the stomach to watch such an embarrassingly inept display.

I'm watching the HBO Axios interview again now. (I wasn't able to really focus on it before.) Pres. Trump's biggest problem is his ego gets in the way. He tries too hard to defend his actions or explain his points of view. In so doing, he gets lost trying to explain things away and comes across looking petty, angry, unintelligent or not very well informed. Take his well-wishing for Ghislaine Maxwell, for example. Instead of speaking directly to her being arrested for child sex trafficking, he shows concerned for her safety hoping she doesn't die in jail like Jeffrey Epstein.

When asked about BLM and systemic racism, he never gives his opinion as to how he'd go about trying to fix things with policing. Instead, he goes out of a limb rattling off a list of "achievements" he's done for black people.

I get that he wants (desperately) to toot his own horn, but sometimes less is more. Just answer the question. Don't interject. Don't bully the interview by talking over the interviewer and you'll do fine. But when his ego kicks in which is often, he just can't help getting in his own way.

That’s clearly not his biggest problem.

Come to think of it, that whole argument about more testing, look at the numbers, weakens the right argument that testing is bad. Trump was showing the prepared ratios of deaths to testing being the lowest in the world.

Well, it's kind of hard to ignore death counts, but the more tests you count (in the denominator), brings the ratio lower.

So if anything, Trump really should be arguing for more tests to support his argument, not that more tests is worse.

When his argument is "we have fewer deaths in relation to the number of testing", yes, he should be pushing for more testing if for no other reason than to show fewer and fewer people are dying if they caught this virus. Instead, he's more concerned about how the sheer volume of COVID-19 testing -vs- cases reflects on him.

Again...his ego gets in the way.

The utterly vapid cluelessness comes in second?

I don’t think so.

Well, I did say...

He tries too hard to defend his actions or explain his points of view. In so doing, he gets lost trying to explain things away and comes across looking petty, angry, unintelligent or not very well informed.

So, I think I checked the box on him being clueless. To my larger point, however, if he had given simple, straight-forward answers maybe - just maybe - he wouldn't have come off looking and sounding so desperate, foolish and defensive.

It’s not how he looks and sounds, it’s who he is.

Utterly overmatched by the job.

How are there still stupid people who think Epstein looks bad for Democrats?

Lmao.

Thought had by person at the White House: If you can remember, man, woman, car, camera, TV, you are fit to lead a country and no one has anything to worry about

Same way there are people who think attacking Biden based on mental fitness makes Trump Aka Mr. "Person, woman, man, camera, TV", look good.

Only as much as you are inured to your own, yes.

Then again, we have three years of the left continually blowing this kind of thing out of proportion and being actively caught lying about it in full order. So I don't see an issue in not believing this kind of crap when it's repeatedly being pushed, over and over.

If only the left had the integrity to face him on actual topics like policy, or something else with a legitimate backing. Then none of us would actually be stuck in this damn pit.

thank you for such a telling display of your critical thinking skills. The logic of your rejection of the mountain of evidence of trump's incompetence and unworthiness provides a perfect example of why people still support him.

But project you own support for a leader lacking in integrity onto the left and then lament you being stuck in a gigantic clustermuck of his making, on no wait, its all the lefts fault for being so mean as to point out what an arse he is. It is what it is, afterall.

Was there anything in the interview that you thought he answered poorly? And can you give examples that were taken out of context and quote the entire part you feel captures what Trump really meant?

I can't speak for everyone, but I wasn't particularly outraged by the interview. Embarrassed, amused, and exasperated maybe, but not outraged.

Anyone who thinks that interview went fine and wasn't a colossal disaster (especially considering how viral it went) is simply lying. There isn't much else to it.

I think it went very well for democrats
