Caroline Kennedy to seek Hillary Clinton's Senate seat

Caroline Kennedy to seek Hillary Clinton's Senate seat - International Herald Tribune

Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of an American political dynasty, has decided to pursue the United States Senate seat being vacated by Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, a person told of her decision said on Monday.

The decision came after a series of deeply personal and political conversations, in which Kennedy, whom friends describe as unflashy but determined, wrestled with whether to give up what has been a lifetime of avoiding the spotlight.

Kennedy will ask Governor David Paterson of New York to consider her for the appointment, according to the person told of her decision. The governor was traveling to Utica Monday and could not immediately be reached for comment.

Wow, talk about "Entitlement" garbage. And to think there was no worse senator for NY than Hillary.....

I'm sorry, but how is this "Entitlement"? The news story only shows that she's throwing her hat in the ring. I didn't see anywhere where she acted entitled or implied that she somehow deserved the position.

her belief that she with no experience and a name sake is entitled to this seat.

I can't wait for the hypocrisy to begin when Kennedy's credentials are explored. Let's see if all those that insulted Palin's experience will admit that Kennedy has far less.

She WILL be the next senator from N. Y., no doubt about it. The governor wouldn't dare turn her down.

Where does it say that is her belief? All I see is that she's throwing her hat in the ring. Why do you care anyway? If she's not qualified and indeed feels that just her name qualifies her for the position as you assert, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about as far as her getting appointed to that position.

We shall see. And comparing the position of Vice President to a Senator is kind of absurd. That isn't to say that one doesn't have to have qualifications to be a Senator, but your comparison is hardly valid.

Yeah, I guess it is absurd. Senator's have far more power than V.P s.

Gee lets see liberal appointed governer appointing liberal lady to senate.

yeah there is nothing to worry about.

You didn't answer my question. Where does it say that she feels entitled? Surely you aren't getting all of that solely from her submitting herself for consideration, or are you?

Yeah, I guess it is absurd. Senator's have far more power than V.P s.

Actually, that's debatable. If the President dies a Senator isn't going to become the President.

And it's not a comparison of positions.

Why she we would be accepting of a totally unqualified candidate for Senate if we're going to be outraged by the lack of qualifications for Veep? At least an argument could be made that Palin was somewhat qualified for Veep given her actual governing experience. Kennedy has zero, nothing whatsoever to qualify her for a Senate seat.

So, lets see if the outrage ensues from Democrats about her lack of qualification...

Or do Democrats view Senate seats as mere symbols to be traded away for campaign cash?

Semantics games are weak.

She has no experience period and wants the seat. Of course "entitlement" comes into play to her.

Actually, it only does if you are arrogant enough to assume to know all of her reasons for throwing her hat in the ring.

I didn't seriously question Palin's qualifications until I saw her interviews.

Actually, that's debatable. If the President dies a Senator isn't going to become the President.

Let's see a comparison of the number of crucial votes a Senator takes during his/her term versus the number of V.P s that have become president because of a death.

It was Vice-President Garner that said the office isn't worth a bucket of warm spit He was right.

So are you making yet another thread about the Good Reverend? PErhaps you can try to control yourself this time./

Yay! More whining. Here, let me edit the post so it doesn't hurt your fragile sensibilities anymore.

Actually, it only does if one is arrogant enough to assume to know all of her reasons for throwing her hat in the ring.

So no self control.... ok. :2wave:

Self control for what? We were discussing something and you started whining about personal attacks, which seems to be what you always resort to.

Look, I'll save you the trouble. I'm going to cease this conversation with you and will remember in the future to avoid discussing anything with you because you have fragile sensibilities and take things as personal attacks even when they weren't intended that way. Fair enough?

Think maybe Michelle might consider giving it a shot after Barrack's term limit? The girls will be older....hmmmmmm....

Wow, talk about "Entitlement" garbage. And to think there was no worse senator for NY than Hillary.....

Caroline Kennedy? The "nanny"? asking for the Illinois senate seat? What the f*ck?!

We better collect some money here and give it to Blagojevich, and regardles if this method is legal or not, I'm sure he can find a candidate who wil be worthy for that position.

LOL There, there, Gill. We know you're still stinging over Palin's loss.

Senator = Vice President? Yeah right.

I'm not saying I think Caroline Kennedy is qualified.
