18-year-old accused of arson at federal courthouse in Portland

He is in court so evidently not, although he could have refused to go to court like Trump and his associates did during impeachment hearings. I am not going to ask stupid questions about Trump you will deny.

Why are you defending him?

It was more than a firecracker. Check out the video.

Worth noting that (supposedly) the kid didn't know what it was. He 'thought' it was a spinning firework. He admits he was surprised at the explosion.

That makes him a liar as well as an arsonist.

Are you accusing me of committing a Federal felony?

Is he above the law?

I'm accusing you of having done worse than throw a firecracker.

Just like the individual that didn't know the gun was loaded, when you commit an act with unintended consequences, you're accountable for your actions. I hope he rots in jail.

That is irrelevant ..whether any individual did something "worse" than throw an explosive device at a federal building, this was captured on video with supporting corroborating evidence from other sources (e.g. the picture the grandmother posted of her cute grandson).

He should be punished for his actions. But rot in jail? My my aren't you the tough guy.

That's nice. I think we all know that his biggest offense in your eyes is him being a lefty who threw it which is why he must "rot in jail".

I'd almost put money on it being an M-80 firecracker.

Yeah, definitely an M-80. They're not hard to come by. Especially this year. I think going off between an outside wall and an outer building wall served to amplify the sound of the explosion. Kind like firing a gun in an enclosed space. It will set your ears ringing.

Does the kid realize there's video?

clear to see the young man wasn't getting good advice at home. "Here baby, wear this vest tonight when you go down to try to burn down the federal courthouse with all your rioting freinds. Make sure you have lots of bricks, fireworks, frozen bottles of water, kerosene filled ballons and don't forget your mask".

You're accusing me of attacking a Federal installation.

No I'm not. You just want to get your victim card on like usual. This dishonest attempt at setting me up will not work.

This kid deployed an illegal explosive device against a Federal installation. You said I've done worse. So, yeah, that's exactly what you're doing.

Absolutely no law and order conservatives ever shoot off any fireworks ever!

The explosive device he used is illegal under state and Federal law.

Somehow, though, an M-80 is seldom confused with a spinner.

An 18-year-old man made his first appearance in federal court Friday on an arson allegation, accused of lighting and throwing a large firework Tuesday

What constitutes a large firework? He'll definitely pay the price for lighting a firework not on the 4th of July.

It's possibly a euphemism for "homemade explosive device". Not sure on the laws, but mixing several fireworks into a container is basically a pipebomb, and could be treated as such. Or it might just be a firecracker.

Report me.

Then lie moar.

He threw a firecracker. You've done worse and you know it.

He didn't throw a firecracker. He threw an illegal explosive device.

Right from the story...

...accused of lighting and throwing a large firework

Like I said, I bet it was an M-80 firecracker. Please continue with your over-dramatization though. It's hard to tell who the bigger victim is at this point, you or the federal building.

This, coming from someone who probably supports laws (or at least politicians who support laws) that make it a felony with a 5-year prison term for having a handgun that holds 11 rounds.

Law and order pal.

It was just a large firecracker.
